Yahoo was my original home page when first getting online, and still use it very much,
particularly email. I can't recall ever having a problem...
Update: Yahoo really spreading out; several different magazine-like sites. Leaves cookies for each, dozens of them. Ad blocking with Firefox on an iMac appears to disable some functions.
I've been going in circles with yahoo/AT&T for months to simply transfer an e-mail account from sbcglobal.net to a yahoo account. Every time I call customer service I get a different response. Other than that, however, I get my news and much other content from their website. Thanks.
My computer is infected by Yahoo Inc. and now all searches that originate in my browser's search bar are redirected straight to yahoo.com, a browser search hijack. No mater what I tried this problem is unrepairable unless a reinstall the entire Windows OS. Even then, a chance of reinfect is high as Yahoo Inc. has sneaky ways to install their browser hijacker.
I have used Yahoo! for my entire adult life. The site provides an all around web experience. They even helped me untangle my free email account from my ISP where I had a premium email account. The only thing bad i can say is that Yahoo! drops products and services that I've enjoyed in the past. However, they don't change as much as other content providers like Facebook.
Lots of spam since weeks now, yahoo has not enough control over their own users. The rate of mail gets better when spamassasin is rated with 3.0 points if receipient comes via yahoo.com
Additionaly YAHOO does not honor the mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org account.
The website may still be usefull.
Yahoo is reliable for email, searching , and other information (weather, IMing, classifieds)- however most news stories contain typos, misinformation, and require corrections by users. I would not recommend Yahoo as a leader in providing accurate and relevant news topics.
