Despite some privacy issues in the past they have somewhat rectified themselves and maintain a reliable and entertaining website with content for all ages including games, news articles and a way to get in touch with old friends and even find new ones
Facebook privacy settings are a bit confusing and they do not make it easy to set your privacy preferences in one spot. However, with due diligence a user's profile can be locked very tight to only allow friends or a segment of friends to see what you want them to. Like anything else, you have to learn how to use something before you use it (driving a car ). Without learning the basics harm may be done unintentionally.
It is a good site overall. A fun way to interact with people. I do have some concerns over their privacy policy and I have heard of cases of children being bullied through Facebook. Either than that my experience with Facebook has been good.
Facebook is a good site to hang out with friends, especially people from your past. However, as of late, it seams they have taken on an very anti-entrepreneurial stance for those FB members who have a home business and provide a link to their product or services. Even if the links are not spammy. WOT gives poor ratings that aren't true, such as "not safe for children" for an innocuous link to a valuable business product. That doesn't make any sense. This is just wrong and a travesty of internet ICANN rules. They are treating business like they are pornography! This is anti-business and anti-fourth amendment rights. Google+ is looking better all the time.
IF you don't like what a site has to offer than don't go to it. Simple as that. Facebook is a great way to contact people that you normally wouldn't pick up the phone and talk to.
