Best possible statistics service, period. Have been using it for over ten years now, without any issue. Excellent! Why go for the frauds from Alexa, if you can have StatCounter. Even for free if you only have modest needs!
I just want to know who's visiting my free service on the web and those who don't want that should get NoScript and BetterPrivacy for their browsers. Anonymity on the web does not exist, not even when using Thor or other such advanced technologies. As long as you know that, nothing can go wrong, unless you're stupid.
StatCounter is a friendly, dependable service, that measures numbers of visitors and gives some nearly private details, like city and country, returning visits, browser et cetera. StatCounter only gathers these details of visitors, if website owners place the necessary scripts on their pages. One can hardly hold that against StatCounter, if against anybody, for learning a bit more about the computers(!) that visit them.
I've been using StatCounter since 2007 and I have found the SC free stats service to be the best available. It has allowed me to tune/optimize my website's content to increase its visibility to those at whom it is aimed - vital in these difficult economic times. Also, in all this time I've never had a single item of spam from them.
In addition to the functionality of the stats service itself, the SC support staff and forum members have always proved courteous and helpful. A good deal of the improvements I've made to my website's performance has been in light of advice from them.
