YouTube uses Apache as web server, for images and other static content a modified version of Lighttpd with improved load balancing is used. For saving the published video films, the Flash container format (file name extension: flv) and the container format 3gp, which is intended for mobile devices, was initially used. Later, however, the company also began to offer its videos in MPEG-4 container format and WebM container format. The corresponding video versions can be accessed via a link below the normal version. Since November 25, 2008, suitable videos are also displayed in 16:9 widescreen format.
Since the beginning of 2010, it is also possible to view the majority of the videos in HTML5 format and thus with on-board browser tools. This could be activated on a special page. Since mid-2014 all videos are available in HTML5 format. This format is now supported by all common browsers and has become the standard format on YouTube. At the introduction in 2014, it was only partially possible to use the offer with Internet Explorer. For full support, Internet Explorer also required the Google Chrome plugin.
The YouTube interface is implemented in the programming language Python. MySQL is used as database management system.
Watch and archive videos
The videos can be viewed online as a stream in a web browser. Until 2010 this required the installation of the Adobe Flash plug-in. Since the beginning of 2010 it is also possible to play videos (through the video and audio tag of HTML5) without the plugin.
YouTube had neither planned nor implemented the permanent saving of the videos. However, server-based services like Filsh can be used for local storage. It is also possible to save the videos simply by copying temporary files. Another popular option is to download the videos using special software that can partially convert them into other file formats.
Examples of Flash video compatible players under Windows are the Media Player Classic (with ffdshow filter), the VLC media player, the MPlayer and the FLV media player, which is designed exclusively for .flv files. By installing special codecs, playback is also possible with the widely used programs Windows Media Player and Winamp.
On YouTube every user can create a free account and save videos as favorites. The list of favourites can be viewed by other users. If you do not want others to be able to view your list of favourites, it can be hidden from other visitors to the site.
Publish videos
Videos can be uploaded to YouTube in various formats (such as AVI, MPEG, WMV or QuickTime). A video resolution of 480 × 360 pixels or higher is recommended. Videos are converted to Flash video format and MP4/WebM container with H.264 codec during conversion. Scaling eliminates any loss of quality that may result from a lossy format conversion. The file size limitation on the client side is 20 GB, but Java is required for 2 GB and above. A resumeable upload is also possible.
Until July 2010 the clips were allowed to have a size of 2 GB and had to be shorter than eleven minutes. With a Director account it was possible to publish longer videos, but this regulation was abolished. Only Alt-Director-Accounts and Premium-Partners could upload longer videos. In July 2010 the maximum length was increased to 15 minutes. Since December of the same year, YouTube has started to lift the time limit for selected users who have not violated the YouTube terms of use.
Some users have lost this privilege again. However, the file size limit still exists. In 2011, the possibility was created to deactivate the 15-minute limit by confirming the account via SMS.
Since December 2008 it has been possible to upload and view videos in HD. These are played back in the resolution 1280 × 720 pixels, i.e. 720p. Since mid-November 2009 1080p is supported. Furthermore, uploading in 3D is possible since July 2009.
Since July 2010, videos in 4K resolution are also accepted by YouTube. These are four times as large as HD videos and have a resolution of 4096 × 2304 pixels. In the meantime, a Google account is also required for a YouTube account, even if you have been a longtime owner of one.
Video upload on YouTube
The video platform supports a 360° video function. This creates an all-round movement of the perspective. The perspective results from the point of recording, from which the viewer can independently select the rotation of the chamber activity.

Spend your time here :)
It's a good site. I often watch some videos on it, listen to music and so on, you can find literally everything here. And quite safe for both adults and children. So you can safely spend your time here.
Good enough as a media sharing site, but unsafe for kids, and is made by google, so it tracks and locks down every move you make, and sells this data to advertisers
