    Rumour, Gossip and Fake News Sites

    Since I've been reading about this idiot gunman, who has been lead to a pizzeria in Washington, DC, by internet reports from various garbage sites that masquerade as news sites (nytimes.com/2016/12/05/business/media/comet-ping-pong-pizza-shooting-fake-news-consequences.html) , we should focus more on these sites and the suspicious comments that I have noticed in comments on some of these sites.

    These sites should be deep red since they are causing social harm and are basically feeding on each other, spreading gossip about health and social issues.

    My first submission is the following (and also as an example):

    Bolivia Announces Complete Ban On Rothschild Owned Banks
    Well, this is the absolutely evil Jewish cabal conspiracy gossip since there is no real documentation to this ideal of Jews deliberately controlling banks to promote global policies, that I could find.

    Here is the order of links within links for such rumours:

    abovetopsecret. com/forum/thread1149408/pg1? &
    fromthetrenchesworldreport. com/bolivia-announces-complete-ban-on-rothschild-owned-banks/176745-->
    neonnettle. com/features/624-bolivia-announces-complete-ban-on-rothschild-owned-banks-->
    yournewswire. com/bolivia-bans-rothschild-banks/ &
    superhv. com/news/bolivia-announces-complete-ban-rothschild-owned-banks/ &
    socialmediamorning. com/bolivia-becomes-first-south-american-country-to-ban-rothschild-banks/-->
    trueactivist. com/bolivia-asserts-newfound-economic-independence-rejects-rothschild-banks/ &
    mintpressnews. com/222364-2/222364/-->
    trueactivist. com/the-5-biggest-threats-to-humanity-exposed-gallery/3-->
    http://educate-yourself. org/nwo/nwotavistockbestkeptsecret.shtml
    usapoliticstoday. com/david-rockefeller-says-conspiracy-about-one-world-order-is-true/)

    We see a chain of rumour sites that feed off of each other, each worse than the site before it. As one commenter notes, these sites often are comprised of:

    feel good stories and copious click-bait mixed with insane conspiracy theories . . .

    As Shazza notes, trueactivist(dot)com is:

    Clickbait site with hidden registrant promotes multiple clickbank scams.
    EG - 'Dad Discovers Unique Method to Regrow Hair' link redirects through multiple trackers to scam at
    hxxp://hairlossprotocol101.com/video/?hop=liwer&suid=aIXMyhcDlqX%2Cf99%2CSVKc6kVAKe3

    'Doctors Shocked: Local Mum Loses 12kg in 4Wks Using'
    and many other articles direct to fake news site hxxp://healthnews24.co (affiliate links)

    When I try to go further to track down the sources of the trueactivist link on evil Jewish bankers, I find yet another rumour piece whose links lead to a "404 - file not found" (usapoliticstoday. com/david-rockefeller-says-conspiracy-about-one-world-order-is-true/) There is no such article that contains a comment by David Rockefeller admitting anything.

    Please note that several sites appear to be linked to the trueactivist.com site
    (superhv. com, yournewswire. com, socialmediamorning. com)
    Also note that mintpress.com has been using articles from "Sputnik and RT, two of Russia’s state-funded news outlets":
    (see link: buzzfeed.com/craigsilverman/facebook-trending-just-promoted-a-misleading-story-about-a-m?utm_term=.tsArzwQmJ#.hdDq21mrL )

    The educate-yourself(dot)org is a site filled with absolute nonsense – review it at your leisure.

    I strongly encourage WOT members to exercise better judgement and label these sites accordingly – after researching their content for reliability and proof.

    I looked at one alleged article this blog put out on fracking and it uses links that do not directly support its claims –
    dailycaller.com/2016/12/20/a-wave-of-new-fracking-is-about-to-hit-appalachia/
    One link links to another article on from the site that links to a PDF file that is an unvetted working paper that, though containing mathematical formulai, does not support their contention of job or wealth creation.
    Apparently these sites are the product of Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel (advisor to Dick Cheney) and are political in their bias, at the expense of both science and fact.

    I invite others to rate this propagand site appropriately.

    Here is another site that is a bit different but specializes in misinformation – it masquerades as an educational site of sorts but is actually a promotional site for a political operator, Dennis Prager, who turns out to be an alleged "conservative" talk show host.
    The site offers a category for "educators" and offers "courses", which which are merely platforms for disseminating Prager's POV, without any certifiable educational goal. The site also solicits "donations". I would classify this as a scam site, due to these points.

    RE: Rumour, Gossip and Fake News Sites

    Two new candidates for sites that promote misinformation, opinion, and to a lesser extent, false science:

    strategic-culture.org
    This site promotes misinformation as well as heavily biased content.
    As an example of this site's content, one of their writers, Michael Averko – is linked with globalresearch.ca, which is a source of anti-Jew and holocaust denial theories (and genocide denial). Averko also has no legitimate credentials as a Russian scholar or researcher, does not speak Russian even and a search on Google points to his spam activity.
    Take a look at this guy's credentials as well; it is very dodgy. I found a quote from one source that states

    . . . What Averko doesn’t care to mention is that when he says his “commentary has appeared in the New York Times” he means that the paper has published some of his letters to the editor. The same thing goes for The Moscow Times and Newsday, the only professional journalism outlets he mentions. Not one of them has ever paid Averko a cent for his scribblings, they have merely published his letters
    You get the idea:
    eurasiareview.com/author/michael-averko/

    (rate them here)

    globalresearch.ca
    This site offers false science, unfounded conspiracy theories, bias, etc. with a disclaimer only and no vetting for accuracy. This is a big minus here.

    RE: Rumour, Gossip and Fake News Sites

    The eminent scholars of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists Science and Security Board have expressed grave concerns over the rise of fake news:

    In addition to the existential threats posed by nuclear weapons and climate change, new global realities emerged, as trusted sources of information came under attack, fake news was on the rise, and words were used in cavalier and often reckless ways. As if to prove that words matter and fake news is dangerous, Pakistan’s foreign minister issued a blustery statement, a tweet actually, flexing Pakistan’s nuclear muscle—in response to a fabricated “news” story about Israel. Today’s complex global environment is in need of deliberate and considered policy responses. It is ever more important that senior leaders across the globe calm rather than stoke tensions that could lead to war, either by accident or miscalculation.

    Here is an excellent site for reviewing the current situation regarding misinformation groups that deliberately attempt to spread misinformation and appear to be agents of other countries (Russia):

    euvsdisinfo.eu/behind-the-scenes-at-the-swedish-troll-factory/

    Last week, we described how trolling and personal intimidation towards journalists and commentators is the most prominent form of propaganda in the Nordic countries. The conclusion was confirmed in a story published last Thursday by the Swedish daily Eskilstuna Kuriren. For the first time, Swedish readers could go behind the scenes and learn about how work is done at a Swedish troll factory. etcetera

    RE: Rumour, Gossip and Fake News Sites

    Here is a collection of sites that have come to my attention due to an article on sites that promote false and eroneous scientific claims about vaccines and their safety. Many of these sites claim that mercury in vaccines is the cause of autism, even though there is no medical proof for such (see sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-final-nail-in-the-mercury-autism-hypothesis for more) or the fact that trace amounts of thimerosal (mercury compound) is no longer used to produce vaccines.

    This list constitutes a listing of sites that should be labelled untrustworthy due to false claims that also may include unproven claims of conspiracy:

    mercola.com
    ageofautism.com

    Actually, globalresearch.ca is quite green and should be red.

    Here is another good example of why this site should be rated red for promoting disinformation on behalf of state actors as well.
    Consider another of their dodgy authors and founder, Michel Chossudovsky, an author who is listed as being a contributor to RT.com as well.
    He lists credentials as having worked for the United Nations, yet there are no records of his engagement with that organization to be found anywhere. This author recently wrote on this site that:

    The U.S. media concurs: the DPRK is a threat to US national security requiring a preemptive first strike THAAD missile attack in the name of “self defense”. Who’s crazy? Kim or Trump? Never mind if it unleashes war with China and Russia.
    THAAD is not an offensive weapon, it is a type of missile defence that destroys incoming missiles only!
    This is simply one tiny example of misinformation, disinformation, and lies that this site fronts for.

    For a more in depth review of this site's faults, you can consider the following as more objective facts:
    rationalwiki.org/wiki/Globalresearch.ca

    While some of GlobalResearch's articles discuss legitimate humanitarian concerns, its view of science, economics, and geopolitics is conspiracist — if something goes wrong, the Jews West didit! The site has long been a crank magnet: If you disagree with "Western" sources on 9/11, or HAARP, or vaccines, or H1N1, or climate change, or anything published by the "mainstream" media, then GlobalResearch is guaranteed to have a page you will love.

    The site lists a long list of "Pedophilia in high places" – namely in the U.S. and list this piece:

    "Homosexual prostitution inquiry ensnares VIPs with Reagan and Bush. This story went away, and fast."

    Well, that story went away fast because it had no veracity. The headline was an attempt by the Washington Times to sell papers only: washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1989/08/01/the-bombshell-that-didnt-explode/ff09cdb0-7d64-428b-8415-a6998b9f0c65/

    "Site-rater" My evaluation was based upon feedback from families with autistic children, who are highly critical of this site due to their classification of autism as being a "disease" instead of a condition.
    I went back and discovered that some of the complaints came from a source whose credibility I could not corroborate. Upon a sustained review of these sources, this is opinion-based.
    Other additional sources support this site's credibility as well. Yoko Ono actually supports this site.

    Thanks for the information so that I can revise the original listing and exclude the site from this thread.
