While the Daemon Tools Lite software is completely legitimate and functional, its installer attempted to install a piece of Adware on my computer. Fortunately, Kaspersky found the offending files and I was able to remove them.
Infects his programs with unremoveable malware, even if you follow the steps to opt-out from the so called "optional" adware.
The current FREE and SAFE alternative is Virtual CloneDrive.
Use this instead.
And again Daemon Tools Lite comes with AdWare, which now cant get deselected in the installer. After some harmless PUPs at the new beginning of that "service" now with some background-programs what change the browser settings permanently, are not shown in the programs section and are hardly to deinstall.
Notice that the german computermagazine "chip" proposes an alternative to Daemon Tools LE in its download section, what they do in very few cases.
An official website of the Daemon Tools software. While this company delivers their software as it promises, and their programs alone are safe, some time ago they started to bundle crapware (potentially unwanted programs, such as browser hijackers etc.) in installators of their software.
The site seems safe at first glance, but problems arise when you download the program from the site.
When i ran the .exe file from the download, my anti-virus instantly stopped the setup program because it was attempting to download adware. Thank god I didn't finish the setup program, because those that do run the risk of downloading spyware as well.
This is the screenshot from the anti-virus report when I tried to run the .exe.
Ignore those old comments that say that DAEMON tracks every single mounted image. The newest version no longer uses it. And when information was gathered back then, it was optional.
The software comes with Open Candy, but it is not owned by them. They are not toolbars, but optional programs such as a game.
Anyway, this is a great tool for mounting virtual images. Better than Alcohol 120, and it FREE!
This page is viral think, because when I visited Mozilla Firefox, and then went to visit another website and they no longer came on. (Before there was nothing wrong). And only helped to re-install for Mozilla Firefox.
