Daemon Tools is a great program with lots of features.
It does contain adware by default but you have the option to not install it during installation. A lot of (probably not good) antiviruses have had false alarms with Daemon Tools which can be seen from the comments in here too.
Downloaded only the software and received a virus. However, it is easily removed with anti-virus.
The program itself though still works like a charm and is very useful.
Run a scan or whatever you have to do as soon as it installs. There weren't any seriously debilitating immediate effects of the virus that I could tell, but be careful regardless.
I have installed DTlite with NO toolbar or extras and both times I have had either virus or malware infect my system and lock it up AND preventing windows to start on reboot. Had to reinstall windows both times.
