SouceForge has taken over several open source applications, bundled crapware with the installers and are distributing them as legit versions. This practice is unacceptable and should not be trusted.
Bundles open source software with malware using their own installer. Used to be a good site.
AVOID DOWNLOADS FROM THIS SITE AND USE OFFICIAL SOFTWARE CHANNELS.
Sourceforge (a once respected place for open source software) has begun to include 3rd party crap-ware in its installers. Please use caution if downloading Anything from this site.
The site also allows misleading advertizements which could lead an unsuspecting user to install malware.

The site has recently gotten some criticism for a few reasons listed in the articles below:

This site was once awesome. It is now taken into forcing users out of ownership of their own software, and forcibly bundling malware.

Downloaded Filezilla today. In addition to the installer attempting to install several potentially unwanted adware installers the download page itself had several fake download buttons (ads) that led to malware installation.
Most software installers on the site are now bundled with junkware... Thank you Sourceforge for abusing our trust. We need more ratings on WOT to change to correct our rating otherwise MYWOT is in danger of no longer being trustworthy.

Sourceforge has been taking over defunct projects and repackaging them with malware.
