This seems to be to enable the creators turn ever pixel on the page into a link even though there is actual content behind it, to plug the parent business' web service that sells actual books. Furthermore, it uses scripts to determine the visitor's location and change information accordingly without warning or request. You get no opportunity to agree/disagree/change anything, which under modern cookie and use-of-information policies for the internet is illegal.
