Posted on ***** I'm updating the below comment to say that the website's owner has convinced me that the Microsoft scan result was a false positive. Sorry! Please disregard the below (but I have to leave it there anyway, just for accuracy's sake). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Initial comment, posted on about ***** Got this result from the Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus client while downloading the portable version of the Cyberfox web browser: "PWS:Win32/Lineage.gen!C.dam" When I went to the Microsoft Security Essentials website regarding this result, this is what it said: "This threat is classified as a password-stealing troian. Typically, a password stealing trojan installs a keystroke logger (commonly referred to as a keylogger) which records keystrokes and sends the recorded information to remote attackers. Some keyloggers monitor only keystrokes involved in specific types of web-based transactions. For example, a keylogger may include a component that monitors browser activity, only recording keystrokes when certain bank or ecommerce sites are accessed. Other types of password-stealing trojans include those that capture screenshots in an attempt to bypass graphic-based security measures. This threat is detected by the Microsoft antivirus engine. Technical details are not currently available." --Here's the link to the above results: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/encyclopedia/entry.aspx?name=PWS%3aWin32%2fLineage.gen!C.dam&threatid=2147583492#tab=1
