 One of the big problems with WoT is that many users trace one identifier and conflate it with an entire host, domain, gateway, ISP, or autonomous system, or simply click on the widget to rate "this site" as though one IP address = one source of good or bad stuff. As such AKAMAI, among others, may get painted with a broad brush of fear and hatred. Mixed results here from what i here alot of people really do hate akamai , if your a gamer like my self you will find this pops up ALOT because most game clients use this or PMB (pando media booster) akamai is USLESS over all some game clients will do a silent install and some will ask for permission if you wish to restrict akamai but dont feel the need to uninstall it do a deep scan into akamai and get Comodo and config your firewall settings to how you want opt-in & opt-out connections , ive done this but ive just felt the need to uninstall it as i feel its conflicting with some of my online streaming videos

Too funny to see too many idiots believe Akamai is a malicious thing. It's incredible that those people are rating websites. They should make their own brain red flagged before rating a website. Those real idiots shouldn't be connecting to the internet. But I'm OK as those comments made me laugh. haha.

Installs without any agreement of the user, without users knowledge. However, it has a "clean" uninstall program and can be removed as any other software. It isn't a virus, but it's quite useless (and even annoying) after the download it is required for, so just uninstall it. Oh and BTW, marked as Malicious because it launches itself under svchost.exe I mean, a clean program would show up in your process explorer with a self-explanatory name, like "TortoiseSVNcache" or something like that. This one doesn't. Smelly smelly.

Marked as Malicious because this site Installs software on users computers without users knowledge. Maintains a secure connection the entire time the "compromised" computer is connected to the internet, again without user's knowledge. Claims to speed up internet browsing by locally caching information, however, since I have uninstalled it, i have noticed that my speedtests (average out of 3 tests from 3 different locations) and my average download speed from various sites has INCREASED.
