Is americanapparel.net Safe?

Although the company touts their corporate responsibility and donations of merchandise (for which they no doubt get a tax break), they do send spam, which they could have avoided by using the simple, industry-standard, double-opt-in process to "subscribe" someone. On 12/15 I began receiving a daily email from them (updates@email.americanapparel.net) despite the fact that I never was their customer, had never gone to their website and don't even recall ever having heard of the company before. However, they do seem to have honored my unsubscribe request.

If you order online from American Apparel, use a throwaway email address, as otherwise you will be getting email from them until the end of time. It's impossible to unsubscribe: either the 'unsubscribe' form on their website is broken, or they simply ignore it.
