In addition, their claim of offering "quality doctors" is not supported by the background, eduction, and patient reports of many doctors available "in network". I rated anthem.com (Anthem Blue Cross Health Insurance) poorly when it comes to privacy and security. They had a security breach in 2010 whereby my information was stolen. They offered to pay for credit monitoring, etc. However, they continue to have practices that allow customers information to be stolen. For example, I recently changed plans (April 2011) over the telephone with them. A few days later, I get a telephone call from someone saying they are with Anthem Blue Cross and they need to verify my information. I said that was fine as long as I wasn't asked any personal identifying information. The first question the lady asked was for me to verify my social security number. I explained to her that I cannot do that because I did not make the telephone call. This was disturbing because they already had my information from my previous policy as well as from my telephone call to change policy. If you do business with Anthem Blue Cross, use a prepaid credit card to pay for the policy online. This company is careless when it comes to the security of your personal information.
