Is apc.com Safe?

***** The Dutch representation of this brand: Schneider-Electric keeps spamming and violating the Dutch Law. Spam complaints (Dutch Authorities): ***** ***** BLACKLISTED DUE TO SPAMMING FROM DUTCH SALES REP (IMPORTER) Although we have bought APC pructs for 20+ years this company has now been blacklisted. Not for bad products, but because of their Dutch representation Schneider. I still 'trust' APC website and the suitability of the website for my children. That said .. however their Sales Reprresentation in Holland .... Schneider is a different ballgame. We keep receiving spam from this Schneider company even after they totally neglected a BY LAW to be processed ORDER TO REMOVE any personal (consumer) data that they receievd after a APC support question. This Legal Removal Order (Dutch Privay Law) has been send after previous spam (misuse of personal data). We have now reported Schneider to the Dutch Authorities as they keep on breaking Law (Telecommunication Law) after Law (Law on Privacy) and probably worse ... show totally disregard the people they have contact with. Adding one to the SPAMMING lists even when asked (IN ADVANCE) not to in a support mail is not potentially illegal it IS ILLEGAL. That does not look promising if you should decide to become their customer. Even though APC is NOT to blame (and was first only orange-listed), APS has fallen victim to our blacklisting. Schneider still chose to start spamming a consumer and does not react on privacy issues. Both Schneider and as result APC are now lifelong blacklisted. We only do business with reliable, trustworthy and integer companies.

Rarely (if ever) got spam on the address I gave them, until the day after I signed up for My Support and the general website (apparently separate logins). Don't give them an address you don't want spammed. Maybe not definitive, but I don't share my email address very often for this very reason, so I'm more than suspicious. Read their Privacy Policy and understand that when they say they may share your information with other "reputable" companies, they will, unless you opt-out by sending an email to their <marketinglistupdate@apcc.com> address. The spam I got had nothing to do with APC's market (subject was "Location Based and Geo Social Networks").

These guys sell my favorite battery backup units. I have eight of these running in my home protecting the TVs, media devices, computers, etc. We have regular power problems where I live that typically last only a couple seconds and other than the beeps you hear from the APC units, you would never know and now, you can even silence the beeps on some of them.
