When it comes to the freedoms of the composer or listener, ASCAP is not so great, allowing creators licensing freedom within ASCAP's limits, not the creators'.

The ONE thing I like about ASCAP, as Captain Picard said, is the ultra-useful ASCAP ACE Title Search. Other than that, ASCAP is annoying and restrictive to all in the music business...

I disagree with their politics as well, but the "ACE Title Search" is extremely useful. They have a very old Gospel song listed that I was sure I'd never find any info about online. Sure enough, Google brought me here and it showed the song performed by the very choir I heard it by! And two other artists, one of whom I am also familiar, the other not so much.
