Great site for travelers! It's a community where you can get in touch with other travelers and host them, or be hosted by others while your stay in a foreign country. Really good idea. Nothing suspicious on the site in my opinion.

since it was turned to a company, ignoring privacy of memebers, it has issues.

Not sure about their internal politics, but I am a member and have hosted many people although I have never surfed at someone else's place. The whole experience has been positive for me. I have lots of folks and been able to help a bunch out and had a good time doing it....I live in Mexico.

Anything before some time in 2012 is irrelevant. They were bought out. Changed there agreements. Went from non-profit to for profit, and fired the whole staff, kicked out the volunteers in the cities, and have made the site less secure. They have refused to listen to the issues of the members, and have finally deleted very important content about cities and feedback. -- We tried to work with them for almost a year, but they kept going downhill till I can't take it anymore.

I was personally an ambassador of CS and I love the concept, the people and the related benefit you can get from the community.
What I have to say is that I am really disappointed from the founder Casey Fenton (and his colleagues) because it started it as non-profit organization and it ended it up as BIG for-profit business.
That's called cheating.
My, and not just mine, support and love to the organization stops here.
The love to the friends that I made through CS will not stop. ;-)

built up by volunteers it turned after a few years into a commercial network, 3 heads took all the shares - now former fulltime-volunteers who built it up, at later poits were paid at small incomes - were all fired
