I am a fan of WOT and I usually avoid all sites given a red warning label. In this instance it is totally unwarranted and allows one side of a complex dispute to effectively silence the other side. There is NOTHING DANGEROUS TO VISITORS TO THIS SITE. It's poor rating almost certainly has been skewed by Seventh-day Adventists hoping to bury it and the several critical assessments of Ellen G. White on this site by former pastors and other researchers over a period of 150 years. Fair disclosure: I am a former Seventh-day Adventist who left the church many decades ago for reasons entirely unrelated to Ellen G. White. Most of my large extended family remains SDA and they are very dear to me. I genuinely don't have a dog in this fight. I personally experience both the criticisms and defenders who apparently have stuffed the WOT ballot box disingenuously to be engaged together making a tempest in a teapot. My one interest, apart from my familiarity with disputes is that, as a lawyer, I believe in my sworn duty to uphold the US Constitution. Both sides have a right to first amendment freedom of speech and neither side should be enabled to silence the other side. Why would SDAs be so intensely vigilant about Ellen White's image? She was a co-founder of their denomination in the 19th century and is regarded as a divinely inspired "prophetess". Many SDA doctrines are based on her writings which are considered 2nd only to the Bible as authorities for people to know God's word. This site reveals problems with the doctrine that she was divinely inspired. For example, some critics compare texts from early editions of her work to more recent editions authorized by the Ellen White estate. Later versions are said to omit passages acceptable in her lifetime that are totally unacceptable now, most notably her characterization of Africans and African Americans as "sub-human." Other critics published here state that she plagiarized large passages of her books claimed to be divinely inspired. Comparisons to the texts claimed here to be plagiarized are given. Another former SDA scholar also compares her autobiographical account of a certain event she participated in as a young unmarried woman to a detailed a very detailed newspaper account relating testimony by many people at a trial of the leader of the event. In White's account she briefly declares that God was present preventing officials from arresting the leader and that she was at the event to stop fanaticism among those people. The newspaper account included several eyewitness reports describing her participation. Most agreed she was lying on the floor, but would rouse herself from time to time to point a finger at someone and declare her vision from God about that person. Notably she singled out 2 people who she said must be baptized IMMEDIATELY in a cold river after a lot of snow at 11 PM or they were "GOING TO HELL". One girl objected and wanted to talk to her mother but was blocked from leaving. Overall, the scene among this group of like-minded believer with Ellen seemed more lascivious than reverent to non-believing witnesses. At least the group was perceived not to have behaved like any recognizable sort of religious meeting. Some disconcerting details about the allegedly "lascivious" activities of participants at the meeting is given at at the end of this comment. This site also lays out some theological disputes that would likely seem very esoteric to most people. The crux of the dispute is whether Ellen White first espoused doctrines she later repudiated. The importance of these issues to the partied goes to the heart of the matter to then: Was Ellen White divinely inspired or not? Here are some of the unusual activities from the newspaper account of this group One belief they shared was the importance of Holy Kiss which caused unrelated men and women to greet each other repeatedly with kisses. Another action was "creeping" (crawling on all fours) around on the floor of the room supposedly to show their humility but in one reported instance a woman was creeping and was followed closely by a man behind her head butting her fanny. Other witnesses testified that they saw men sitting on the floor with a woman seated between his kegs kissing her. Of most concern, was also conflicting testimony about one of the men following a young woman into the bedroom and the couple kissing on the bed After the arrest Ellen with her soon to be husband are said to have fled while others in the group remained to testify on his behalf. He was sentenced to 10 days though he didn't serve all of it, but White's account says he was not guilty. Whether these critics of Ellen G. White and the evidence they present is accurate may be doubted or denied by others. Both groups of individuals have a right to their opinion. However, WOT should not allow one side to prevent the ideas of the other side from being expressed openly in the marketplace of ideas. Background context: There was a famous preacher of the time named Joseph Miller who persuaded thousands of people to "come out" of their own churches and become his followers. He preached that the second coming of Christ would occur in 1844. Within the movement two dates were picked, one in the spring and the 2nd one on October 22, 1844. Nothing happened. It went down in history as "The Great Disappointment." Many followers had followed their leaders exhortations to sell or give away all their possessions and mot to plant crops in the spring, giving evidence that they were going to heaven and would not need to eat the harvest. After October 22, 1844, most followers gave up the doctrine of the imminent 2nd coming and returned to their previous churches, many destitute. The group described in this newspaper account were among the few who still believed in the imminent 2nd coming, but were confused, despairing and in great disarray. Ellen White,( nee Harmon at the time of the incident) and her husband, James White, gathered the remaining discouraged believers in the imminent 2nd Advent and. with the aid of Ellen's visions, were able to restore the faith of the ragtag remnants of the Millerite movement. Ultimately they founded the Seventh-day Adventist denomination. A belief in the imminent, date unknown, return of Christ remains one of their two most important beliefs. Today, Seventh-day Adventism is the fastest growing religious group in the world, with most of the growth in the developing world where Adventists are very active in helping to improve the material well-being and health of the people while Adventist natives od the country preach their message and hold services in churches built for them by volunteer Adventists around the world. Their church services, many now broadcast on Adventist TV channels, are NOT ANYTHING LIKE THE CHAOTIC SCENE depicted in the above newspaper account. Whether the congregation is very small and meets in a remote concrete block church or a huge congregation whose services are televised and very technologicly saavy,, the meeting format is similar to most other evangelical protestant denominations.

This site is worth the read if you wont to Know more about Ellen White's unscriptural, rambling writtings.
5
Perfectly safe and not at all deserving of bad ratings, which the site probably gets due to its criticism of SDA.
5
This site purpose is to attack, accuse, and deceive people. It is not based on any supported evidence, but simply manufactured lies. It is extremely unethical, and full of hate. It is a hate crime.
4
This site shares the experience of one person and how he relates to the SDA. There is no hate towards the SDA or EGW. The very negative rating is probably from someone who is SDA and is not willing to research the truth for himself.
5
I have found nothing here other than attacks with either manufactured information to support it or hearsay. If there was real information here I could support it.
