I have used this site for some time now. Perhaps "before" it became part of Experian, there might've been some problems. However, take notice that Experian owns it now. Note: after posting I saw that most all of the complaints were at least 6 years old

My brother enrolled in the program provided on this website and used it for a good amount of time all though they provided the services as described when he wanted to cancel his service he had to call a toll free number even though they sell online and provide their service online they do not provide a way to cancel online by email or thru their site. They also don't provide an address to send a written cancellation notice too. He called the number and canceled his plan. The next month he noticed they charged his credit card even though he canceled he called again they refused to refund the charges, he told them to cancel again. He did this many times but each month they would still charge his visa debit card even after his visa debit card number changed they just got the new info from the bank and charged the new card. Finally he called his bank and they reversed the charges and stopped letting them charge his credit card. But this month after many months have past the bank undid the charges and his bank account is now overdraw. They probably did this because ConsumerInfo.com, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of Experian Information Solutions, Inc a national credit bureau. But this is just more of the same they have been doing in the past. They have been ordered by a US District Court in actions initiated by the FTC and California Attorney General to stop this illegal practice twice in the past among other things. They are still committing fraud! Also look at their new terms of service. https://www.freecreditreport.com/terms-and-conditions They are trying to secumvent the law by prohibiting you from participating in clase action suites and court actions against the publics interest. The free part is only a trial. I actually stayed on for the paid service. You can cancel after the trial period, or keep the service. I kept the service and for a small monthly fee I can get an updated credit report from Experian any time I want.

This website is fine. Just refuse the membership. As of this date there are two buttons on the homepage. Click the one under the big description: Free Credit Report Delivered in 2 Days May take up to 2 days to see your Report Credit Score not included in this offer No membership required The one on the right is the "instant membership." The 'fine print' is right under the headline with the following caveat: *The credit monitoring benefit may only be available for 5 days during your trial period since enrollment can take up to 2 days. You may cancel your trial membership any time during your first 7 days without charge. The lesson? Don't click on the one that requires you to put in your credit card or sign up for a membership.

It's called False Advertisement people.... They suck you in saying its free (Which it is!) but for only 7 days. After 7 days you're charged montly 14 dollars. But all you have to do is cancel, saying that you were under the impression the services were free, and you no longer want this. Period. The site IS free, for 7 days. READ THE FINE PRINT PEOPLE.

There is NOTHING free about this site. It is a SCAM to get you to enroll in their program.

I have used them for 3 years and have had no problem with the site. Experian does not deal direct in credit reports. You have to use one of these sites if you want a instant credit report. I have run 15 credit reports a month without problems. Just keep your pop-up blocker on and you should have no problem with them. If you want a written report then you will have to deal with Experian. And like all credit agencies they are a pain in the Ass to deal with when you have to call them direct. The site itself does not present any dangers. People's complaints re their business practices need to be recorded at BBB or other consumer protection agencies/organizations; but claiming the Web site is "a phishing scam" or presents a "risk of identity theft or fraud" is not only wrong it degrades the usefulness of products like WOT by creating a false positive.
