Is greendot.com Safe?

I could not use the money on certain websites -i was never able to get customer service on the phone -they asked for personal information to set up the card like my social security number -a house that i had bought were it was, who, i bought it form when i bought it -i have not been able to use the card -after the fact saw allot of bad reviews about them online

GreenDot has been causing a fake FBI virus that tries to get money out of novice web searchers. This virus locks you computer. The newer version cannot be removed easily, and the only way to restore your computer is reseting windows and reinstalling windows.

I have now used green dot twice, because they offer a quite unique service, however both times they failed to deliver the basic services offered. For some odd reason both times I registered my card they could not verify my information ( and they should be able to, I am a U.S. Citizen with a long-term address, and a SSN that has been verified through a million other uses) and forced me to register a temporary card, without my consent, meaning that I could not use any ATM, reload the card, use the card as debit, or receive a personalized one; indeed the second time I called I specifically requested that they did not register my card as a temporary one, they did anyway. Twice now I have escalated my complaint with their slow, often intelligible, and always incompetent customer service to the highest level possible, and after hugely extended calls (most spend on hold) was essentially told to fuck off; once while escalating my call I was hung up on instead of being put on hold. I had to call back and begin the call from the lowest level again, re-explaining my story from the beginning, and enduring the infinite hold times again, because they apparently don't keep records of their customer service calls. Briefly, Greendot will undoubtedly work for a majority of the time, but if their system arbitrarily fails, or indeed you ever have a problem with the people who hold you money while charging excessive fees, well you're shit out of luck.
