I thought Hughes Net was bad before. But now that they have made everyone upgrade to GEN 5, it is just overpriced, expensive and worse than ever before. Customer service don't care. I am paying a lot for this connection and it rarely lets me surf normally. It is slow during the afternoon, evenings and late nights now. Only good time is early and sometimes it is bad then too.

Accurate information and no spam.

This is the main website for HughesNet Sattelite Internet Service Provider. The reason for the neutral rating is because this is an internet service provider you only choose when you have no other option and if you are technically savvy you die a little bit each time you use it. If you have other choices available, Choose those because satellite is really a last resort for rural areas. Mobile Wifi was not an option here, nor dial-up for that matter.

good site for poor country folk who can't get internet any where else no problems

When "checking availability" you are required to enter a complete valid (per US Post Office) street address. Why? Does the satellite skip various addresses within a zip code? Sorry, HughesNet, you already send me too much junk in the mail.

Their US Mail advertising says "HughesNet Gen4 plans only available on the EchoStar XVII satellite." That is a WildBlue satellite. So it appears that if you buy HughesNet, you are paying them to pay WildBlue for the service. Why not just subscribe to WildBlue to begin with? They are not perfect, but have fewer restrictions and a better reputation than HughesNet.

While the speed sucks, the cost is outrageous, but what are you going to do when they are the only game in town. Big Cable will not bring true high-speed to rural America, it just doesn't enhance their bottom line. And when you have a Governor that passes a law preventing small communities from putting in their own internet systems you are just screwed. Yeah Hughesnet is all about the bottom line but then so is Time Warner Cable, Comcast and any other cable company, Hughesnet is no greedier than Big Cable. he site is perfectly safe,

Thia is the worst internet provider in the world. A scam, they create their own review sites full of lies. They charge large amounts of money for slower than dialup service. They take advantage of the fact that you live in a rural area so you cant get any better internet. I'm done with crapnet and will soon be upgrading to Dailup. Look at the reviews people! *****

I compared my current internet provider to this hughesnet, the price I pay currently is 46$ for 8MB/786k cable internet. Hughesnet offer of Power 200, 2.0 Mbps/300 Kbps$109.99.

While the internet speed is OK to say the most, they have a stupid download allowance, of only 475 Megabytes per day! And that is with the $90 bucks a month plan! Good grief!

Hughesnet is nothing more than a greedy company taking advantage of rural customers. The cheapest package is 60 dollars for a 250mb a day package. For reference- a 3 minute youtube video is 12mb. Hughes also encourages you to stop your automatic updates, leaving your computer quite vulnerable should anything happen. They have a 400 dollar cancellation fee and they blatantly lie about the speed. Every speed test confirms their max speed on the home package NEVER exceeds 100kbs (dialup is 56kb). Do what I did: buy a virgin mobile mifi. It's wireless, works in 3g coverage, has unlimited data, and is only 40 dollars a month. I would never do business with these people again.

Though I can understand why it has poor vendor reliability and trustworthiness the site itself is completely safe. I don't know why anyone would mark down the privacy or child safety

This is my internet provider and is a safe site

Very slow service, especially during peak time. You won't be able to use it much during the day. If you use this service, make sure you like to stay up late and use it, because that's the only time it's fast.
4
very slow internet they lie about how fast it is 50kb is basically your max speed
