Is latimes.com Safe?

Man I hope these fires come down soon enough, and I've read here that there's even a possibility of flood. Not a good scenario of beign hit by two devastating forces, water and fire. I am sorry for those who have lost people in this, because homes and else are also unfortunate, but people are the most important. I like this website because it keeps me up to date with LA news and LA is important to me because it was my prior workplace before I came back home, and I have still conllegaues who live there so I worry about them and watch the news.

This site is too aggressive in pushing viewers towards certain browsers. If the site detects a browser that does not fit their needs, the site employes successive pop-up screens as a means of discouraging viewers from using the software of their choice. The site is unreadable with adblockers in place. This, along with their tracking policy, is very much an anti-user policy.

7-10 Update: I have not been blocked from LAT in the last few months!  Maybe they changed for the better!??  The LA Times promote their links at many portal sites like Yahoo.  Then they block access to the story unless you pay a subscription fee.  Their links should clearly be marked as advertisement just like all other pay sites.  It is deceptive at a minimum as a bait and switch tactic.  It is definitely a consumer scam designed to pique your interest, then charge you for it.  I have started searching for the same news on the internet.  I always find it for free.  They don't own the information.  They just want to charge you for it because . . . wait, they have no reason to charge you, so stay away from these crooks.  Manny

I hadn't been on there in a while and the limited sample of the articles indicated that they still have very good content. However, the tiled layout sure looked like it was dumbed down for mobile. Yuck!! Lastly I am editing this to reflect that I did not see a number of issues that others complained about. It didn't attempt to profile my browser. Also, it really only had about 6 trackers to block and all the rest of the scripts and XSS were all Tribune(the publisher) variations. Perhaps they listened to complaints and improved things since those reviews?
