A great website promoting basic human rights & opposing superstitions being forced on children.

Don't let the negative votes fool you - they are being left by people who support the genital mutilation of children!

We don’t allow religious exception when it comes to girls. Why is that a problem only with boys? Religion does not make it OK to force pain, suffering, and harm upon a child. Plus, you don’t have to be cut to be a Jew or a Muslim in the first place. And as a male that was cut as an adult, the negative effects are far from being exaggerated. No court has ever held that parents have a first amendment right to have unnecessary medical procedures performed on their children. To give that power gratuitously to certain parents because they have particular religious beliefs would be to violate one of their children’s constitutional and moral rights-the right to equal protection. If the state and the medical profession protect some children against medically inappropriate practices, they must protect all children against all medically inappropriate practices unless they can demonstrate that denying that protection to some children would be better for those children (who themselves have no religious beliefs). As the Supreme Court has stated, parents are free to make martyrs of themselves, but they are not free to make martyrs of their children. In other words, parents are not free to force their children to undergo unnecessary and harmful surgery, however well intentioned they might be. A United Kingdom family court has recently endorsed the principle that at least where two parents of two different religions disagreed on whether to circumcise, and where a local authority exercising parental responsibility under a care order, a circumcision could not be ordered. The court noted that mainstream medical opinion in the United Kingdom requires both paternal and material consent to a circumcision. Any civilized society restricts the individual’s freedom to choose whenever that choice would harm an innocent person. Would you impose your personal beliefs on someone who “chooses” to rape or kill and adult? The one-time choice of the parent robs someone else of a lifetime of choices and prevents him from ever exercising his basic right to choose what happens to his own body. Common sense tells us circumcision is wrong. An individual has a right to keep what he or she was born with. Only the individual should have the right to modify and harm their own body if they wish. Parental consent would only be appropriate in a case of immediate medical need. If you force circumcision on an infant, you have forced circumcision on the man he will become, and that means that no man has say about his OWN genitals, which is a violation of bodily autonomy and human rights. *****

This male anti-circumcision site allows for no religious exceptions, opposes parental rights to decide and opposes religious freedom. It greatly exaggerates alleged negative effects.
