My criticism is twofold. First, it's with OIF (located in Switzerland) the owners of osho.com. In my view they are a questionable organization profiting off of the teachings of Osho. My reasons for thinking this are that five of their topmost leaders including the president (Jayesh) were recently suspended by the Swiss government and that these are the same people who produced what was determined to be a fraudulent will for Osho 23 years after his death with themselves listed as the executors. Also Osho himself said, "Things can be copyrighted, thoughts cannot be copyrighted, and certainly meditations cannot be copyrighted. They are not things of the marketplace.” Yet OIF claims copyrights and has turned his teachings into a remarkably profitable commercial enterprise. Secondly my criticism is that Osho's teachings are so often misunderstood that I can't recommend them to somebody who doesn't at least have some grounding in the Western philosophical method (which he apparently did) or the people he so frequently lectures about, in particular the Eastern tradition. I'm saying this as someone who has read hundreds of his lectures myself. Also Osho's interpretations are often so eclectic or his teachings sometimes contradict his own words (by his own admission) that he should not be seen as free from all scrutiny or handled without due caution or questioning in order to gain a deeper understanding. For example, he teaches the importance of freedom, being an individual, and awakening your own intelligence yet assumes a charismatic leadership position for himself (with no lineage) in which his followers are told to "Surrender to me, and I will transform you", enter a state of oneness with the Master, and assume a state of no-mind and unconditional trust. Also Gandhi is like Hitler because he was a spiritual disciplinarian who practiced vegetarianism and chastity yet the Buddha wasn't. Also some of his teachings if followed to the T and preached by anyone else would seem very hateful. For example, "As a homosexual, you are not even a human being. You have fallen from dignity." or his slogan in the '80s when he was known as Rajneesh that your only options in life are "Sannyas or suicide." For those reasons I cannot recommend this site to the average person.
