Is pirate3d.com Safe?

Having participated in Pirate3D's preorder on Kickstarter in June 2013, I maintained patience with all of the unit's delays. However, after multiple delays pushing delivery beyond the promised dates in 2014, the company offered a refund, promising disbursal between Oct-Dec 2014. I have now been notified that I can expect a refund no earlier than October 2016, more than two years from now. Other users are reporting similar problems, ranging from expected refunds even three years from now, extending into late 2017. This might be something to consider before purchasing a printer and/or expecting any product or support. Update: Refund disbursement has been re-estimated for 2015, but still >6 months from now, nearly 2 years after receiving payment, and outside of the range promised when the refund was offered. Update #2: The company has allowed the latest refund deadline to pass, stating (2 months later), "building printers for our Backers will always take precedent while refunds we will process when funds allow us to do so. If we had a single dollar left, it would go into building a printer for one more Backer and that’s the plan we are going to stand by." Having had my money for 2 years, I am to understand now that they'll be keeping my $450, and I'll be receiving no refund or printer.
