Is privitize.com Safe?

Yes this site does contain unwanted programs on the install however this can be avoided, the VPN itself works great providing a solid 16 megabit connection to Sweden. The unwanted programs in question as there to generate revenue for the VPN but providing you choose advanced install and un-select the additional programs you get a good program that does the job. I use this on multiple computers for over a year with no undesired effects. The site itself does appear to have some things that avast flags but if you just get the download you are good.

Regarding comments like: "NOD says it's malware" or "comodo flags it as virus." The fact that an AV software detected some signatures in this application does not necessarily mean it's a virus. There is a couple of annoyances like changing the search engine and redirecting to post-install page, but it's nothing major. I have been looking at this piece of software in a sandbox for a while, and could not find any backdoors or rootkits. Regardless, your AV freaking out doesn't mean it's not a false alarm.

I've been using this software for awhile now, and I honestly can't say that it's malicious in any way. I've read the comments on here, and see that most of them are bad, but I found the software on another website that was advertising it. I downloaded it and starting using it at that time, to make my actions online private. I have tested it out, and it seems to work great. As for some of the comments that have talked about the software redirecting them to different websites, and so forth, that is exactly what it was designed to do. See the reason it does that is because it is causing the DNS service to think you're in another country. So that means the websites are going to either redirect you to the version of website that is compatible with that particular country, or not allow you to visit that website period, because it's possible that website may not be allowed in that particular country. This VPN service wasn't meant for surfing the web though. It was meant for being used to mask your download activity, which it appears to do just that. Unfortunately not everyone reads up on the software they're installing, and finds out what exactly the software offers, so when it starts doing something they aren't wanting it to do, they think it's riddled with viruses or something, when in reality, it was designed to do exactly what it says it's going to do. If they had just read it, before they had installed it, to see if it was something they'd be satisfied with, then they wouldn't be giving bad reviews of the software, scaring other potential users away. Had I not used the software BEFORE I had found this WOT rating, I probably would have avoided it. But I have scanned the software for viruses, and other malware, and it has came back clean. Just because an anti-virus or anti-malware program flags something as being 'malware' doesn't necessarily mean it is malware. There are such things as 'false positives', and if your anti-virus is flagging this software as being a virus, then most likely it's just a false positive...

I was redirected here and accidentally installed software. I got the virus, and it was a very annoying spyware. It took three tries to uninstall it. If I'm not careful, I might be unknowingly searching privitize search bar instead of google. DO NOT TRUST THIS SITE. SPYWARE WILL COME.

"Warning! This site has a poor reputation!" Well why? I installed this thing and it works excellently. There are no viruses, contrary to what some people have for some reason been saying. I'm told this doesn't work on every single site, for example Google (which has somehow found a way to break your privacy through any means possible). But if it works for some of the other big sites I've tried, this thing is excellent. So message to you guys who think it's bad: Seek help.
