This domain name used to belong to a small book swapping site. Then it was acquired by ***** for the purpose of an astroturf campaign (i.e., fake grassroots) against the publisher Hachette. This site is part of Amazon's effort to turn this business dispute into a "cause." I agree that this site makes false claims and uses deceptive rhetoric. I also find it objectionable that Amazon has left this site unchanged even after agreeing to terms with Hachette in November 2014. But that's Amazon for you: petty, treacherous, and punitive. For example, according to The Verge (3-27-2015), Amazon even forces warehouse workers to sign 18-month "non-compete" contracts for jobs that last as little as 3 months. (The policy was changed after negative publicity.)
Helpful
An Untrustworthy rating from two people who disagree with its content. I believe that's called Censorship.
Helpful
This site is Amazon related. Apart from any opinion on the Amazon-Hachette querelle, the site is not a scam, is safe and is legal. A negative rating is not justified. The other ratings who are based only on personal opinions should be considered unreliable.
2
Speaking as a reader, I don't want to unite with Amazon. And their math is screwier than a global orgy.
2
This website has no privacy policy. The website's apparent sole intent is to defame a smaller competitor. The website is named "readers united" yet it is not a coalition of private individuals, i.e. consumers who love books. Rather, it is part of Amazon's corporate marketing. It is unethical and deceptive to obfuscate that factual reality.
