Is rix.co.uk Safe?

This company admitted in an email sent by their marketing person Sam Raife that they hired a SEO company which link spammed our website with links to their company. I have no idea what made Rix's marketing company think it was OK to spam links on other websites. A copy of the email is below: REMOVAL REQUEST Thursday 29th of August 2013 10:07:20 AM Dear Website Owner: It has come to our attention that a number of links exist on your domain which send traffic to our website rix.co.uk . Unfortunately we've been warned by Google that these link(s) to rix.co.uk are in violation of Google's search quality guidelines as they have been built by an SEO or marketing company to improve our search engine rankings in Google. We'd like to remove as many of these links as possible to ensure we maintain a good relationship with Google and as such, we would really appreciate it if you would be willing to; (A) remove all existing links to rix.co.uk from your domain, including, but not necessarily limited to the following URLs: xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx (B) be kind enough to provide us with notification once links to rix.co.uk have been removed so that we can notify Google accordingly. by return email.
