Is salon.com Safe?

The site keeps changing. Sometimes for the better. Sometimes for the worse. I also see that clearly organized campaigns to manipulate it's rating are in play. Just read a bunch of biased crybaby reviews for all the evidence. The latest version of the site has IMO weaker articles than it had not long ago. It also has a layout that appears to be overly mobile based- and I refuse to allow any of it's (overly relied on) videos to play for privacy/security reasons. Furthermore, there are a ridiculous number of trackers that would attempt to run if one doesn't block tons of XSSes. I used to mostly enjoy this site. Not so much anymore...

Salon provides thoughtful political, social, and cultural commentary from a variety of perspectives, though they tend to represent a social liberal or "progressive" one. The website is safe and appropriate for children, though most of the topics presented are about generally serious issues. The journalism is generally excellent, though it does often entertain issues of identity politics and sometimes to a trivial degree. If you don't agree with at least some of the core values which inform the general opinions on this website, then you will probably not appreciate their work.

There is no way I can accept this is "suitable for children" - they host articles about how sex with children is "advisable" or that child pornography should be decriminalised! Poorly researched articles sprinkled with buzzwords to create a sensationalist, but factually empty, website.

Contains extremely biased, Racist and Sexist articles towards men and children. Does not obtain honesty when it comes to Gender rights and attempts to be a "voice for equality" when their "equality" is JUST for WOMEN and girls. I don't trust this article because there is less Equality and more discrimination toward men.

Upon clicking on the background in the page so I could scroll through the article, I got a Flash pop-up for rogue antivirus MacKeeper. Had it not been for plugin click-to-play, I might have been infected. With pop-ups like this, one's best chance of avoiding infection is to force close; clicking the close button in the window itself often leads to infection anyway.
