This download manager will attempt to change web browser home page and search engine, regardless of whether you opt in or out to the "feature". Once the installer starts, you have no choice as to any changes it makes and have to do some clean up even if you cancel the installation (which it only allows you to do after it downloads additional files). VERY bad way to market your software.

Well, the program is NOT a malware, but it really scared me... I didn't allow it to install some new extension to Chrome and uninstalled it. It asked (Yeah, it did. Crazy uninstallers these days...) me if i want to delete some dll (it was in C:\Windows\System32) because it "wasn't" used by anything (though I think it WAS used by something, only an idiot would put a file that's used by only one program in a system folder), but I still disagreed. Next it asked me to reboot the computer, I disagreed again and only NOW I read the WoT's reviews. *3 days later* The computer worked fine and there were no signs of ANYTHING harmful. I dunno why everyone posted crazy stuff about this thing. But I still think that I was just lucky... Oh, and about the "accelerating" downloads... THIS DOESN'T DO WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO! I have been using DAP for a couple of years now. To effectively use this software without the problems listed on this site, one must configure the many options available in the user interface. It has incresaed download speeds on all 4 of my Windows mahines (Windows 7 and XP). It can resume download(s) in the event of connection failure or the need to shut down a machine (for whatever reason). The newest version did not work well on IE8, so I reverted back to a previous version and am downloading several programs at the time of this writing. If one chooses to blindly use ANY software before doing research on the program and trying different settings to test it's configurability, that is on the user. I suggest installing a virtual machine to test programs before actually installing them on an actual machine. This practice is akin to test driving a vehicle before purchasing it.

Ok aside from having stupid popups and other bs related to this software. It does nothing, its impossible to increase your download speed through software. this software actually slows your download speeds lol. instead of explaining twice fully, go here ***** (it wasnt the main point of the post, but it was in there)

If you have any prolems with SPEEDBIT programs, please give their support a chance to get it right. Their support has ALWAYS been fantastic w/ me, even w/ free products! Their products were the first I tried when I first started blindly stumbling around on WEB. I couldn't believe the service and dedication they showed to get things right w/ me & their products.Been using DAP Pro, SPO & SVA 5+ (?) yrs. DAP works great for me 2x-4x faster IE8 & Clearewire. SPO is total lightweight No worries. SVA heavy resource user, I only run when watching videos... Doesn't seem to improve performance a whole lot. However, SPEEDBIT SUPPORT has always been great with me. They always respond in less than 24 hrs AND ALWAYS FOLLOW UP after the problems have been worked out. They have always shown me they are dedicated to improving their products and keeping customers satisfied. I think that can be proven by their questions and willingness to make things right if you un-install any products. I'm updating... Speedbit toolbar is a worthless peice of crap and can be very hard to get rid of.. Shame on Speedbit !Stick to reputable practices!!@

Well this one is unknown way you may ask. Well speedbit is not really a virus/spyware program but still it is not a clear free program i may self have not found any thing wrong white the program but still most of the security company's out there is saying it is a virus/spyware program. i can only tell that the program is working and makes the download speed faster and it docent damage your computer. site is unknown safe. unknown of of spyware or virus or other bad guys on the site. //Siferhumen

Terrible worthless software; resource hog, doesn't really work and screwed up many downloads. Video Accelerator doesn't work at all. Average downloads on 56 K dial-up were 2.5 KB/s vs 4 KB/s regular. Program refused to completely uninstall and had to be purged. Also installed adware!

-Safe site, but the PROGRAM ITSELF it's like a MALWARE. -It never worked for me, so I decided to uninstall it. After deleting the program it tells you to restart the computer. -Everything in a folder such as C:\ Program Files is deleted ( It destroys EVERYTHING in the folder it was installed before , I took Program files just as an example.) Nu mi-a mers niciodata, si cand l-am dezinstalat m-a pus sa restartez calculatorul.Cand am intrat, tot ce era in folderul unde era instalat a fost sters. (Daca de exemplu era instalat in Program files, iti stergea tot sistemul de operare) Mai bine nu intra!

Do not listen to the other comments, those are all false lies. I have an Antivirus (SystemTech Antispyware), I scanned the Program and it detected no viruses. DAP is a very useful program for making downloads faster, and yes it works, startup may be slow if you allow DAP to start at startup. I would recommend this program if you are having trouble with downloads. If you have any questions, please contact me.

HAVE NOW FOUND OUT AFTER DOWN LOADING(DOWNLOAD ACCELERATOR PLUS) SO AS TO SPEED UP MY DOWN LOADS,WHICH IT DIDN'T! WHAT HAPPENED TO ME TODAY WAS IT TRIED TO DOWN LOAD SOME KIND OF INTERNET PHONE LINE. THAT I DID NOT WANT! AS I TRIED TO STOP DOWN LOADS IT WOULD NOT LET ME! WHEN I DID GET STOPPED !
