Is superantispyware.com Safe?

Unethical business practices. Example, found on the first page I saw after being directed to this site by a search engine: "The file FMSERVER.EXE should be IMMEDIATELY REMOVED from your system using SUPERAntiSpyware". Now, it's common sense that you can't possibly detect a security risk just by a file name. Furthermore, this kind of scaremongering is typically used by fake antivirus products to try and trick someone into paying for a useless product. This makes me very suspicious of the software. Worse, they have a very similar page for "lsass.exe" - which just so happens to be the name used by a core Windows system process. The software is very effective, but my firewall detected some IPs coming from Savvis-2 on the main site, so it prevented the page from loading. Savvis is a spam network and a data miner, which is exactly the kind of stuff SuperAntiSpyware should be fighting against!

SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition-Detect and remove spyware, malware, rootkits, trojans, hijackers, and other malicious threats, but remember, this does not deal with viruses, you should have a good virus program running also. The free version does not include real-time protection, scheduled scanning and automatic updates.
