Is taptogo.net Safe?

This site is operated for the County of Los Angeles, California, USA. Its purpose is to inform the people of LA County about the regional light rail & bus transportation system, and to deal with electronic transactions such as adding more funds to the TAP cards which are needed to pay fares on buses and subway lines (sometime called light rail when it runs above ground). Let me stress that one CANNOT ride the LA County mass transit system without a TAP card and having added funds to your TAP card, either by "vending" machines in the subway stations or by paying the operator of the bus to add an appropriate amount to the card. For every segment of system that requires additional fares, you must "tap" your card on the subway or bus segment. Inspectors will read and validate your card occasionally to see that you have paid the correct fares. This is much like a paper-based system that I used in Switzerland and the Netherlands, but RFID technology and embedded chips have replaced paper. The average person using Los Angeles County public transportation does not interact with the WOT on the Internet.
