Phishing or other scams
Promoted through spam. Probaby a scam. "
Spam
Registrar GoDaddy has an excellent reputation compared with other major ISPs like eNom or Moniker.
On average, GoDaddy has a small fraction of its registered domains being spammed every day. (5.83% - 318 of 5459 every 5 days back in September). In December 2011, this crept up to 8.2% - 393 of 4810. Because it is the largest in the market, this fraction translates into about 560 violations of their terms of service every week.
GoDaddy should create and monitor their own spam-trap and get proactive in managing this spam outbreak now that it has risen. They should work cooperatively with spam research companies to fix their problem. Since these disposable domains can live within a 3-day or even 2-day window, rapid action is required to send these miscreants away. "
Phishing or other scams
Warning: Domain-name quarantined due to various malicious UCE/UBE malicious activities perpetrated against e-mail accounts, over the net:
* Pharma spam - includes spam brands promoting medications, herbs, nutritional supplements and devices advertised as improving health, augmenting body parts, increasing physical capabilities, but of questionable quality, without the request of mandatory physician prescriptions and giving any documentation that claims the effectiveness of the products. Otherwise, such fake pharmacies don't sell anything, collecting credit card numbers of people attempting to make purchases, instead.
* Replica spam - includes not only the ever-present watches but also shoes, purses, mobile phones and items completely counterfeit and illegal, because of their unauthorized use of trademarks owned by other companies.
* Pirated Software spam - promotes software with apparently lower costs than the original offers, due to the fact that it contain "Warez" software packages, often "nuked" (that mean that the content has been poisoned by someone, during the hacking & delivery process, causing the injection of various types of malware). Of course buying such products is an illegal activity, legally persecuted in various countries, to not mention that the customer do not have the warranty about the reliability of what just bought, neither original packaging, Certificate of Authenticity, the possibility of obtaining backup copies or that the hoster enable the download, after having sent the corresponding fee (operation usually executed without any CC-data protection, during the process).
* Gambling Casino spam - included spamvertised brand may be on a single IP or on a fast flux botnet (they have been found running on an illegally hijacked fast-flux set of botnet machines themselves), that require the player to be gullible enough to download software onto his/her own computer to play the games. Such programs are identified as adware or malware by various antivirus programs, though it is difficult to tell how malicious they may be nor to know if actually playing the games will download additional executable programs onto the computer. Some sites will attempt to download the software automatically by reloading themselves. Others require a click, but will download no matter what the user clicks, even the "about us" links. Any gambling casino that requires you to provide your identity and credit card information is suspect. It is not uncommon to find that identities and the corresponding credit card information will later be offered for sale on the "carder" black market. Victims will find their credit card being abused perhaps some months after they expose it to the criminals who run these bogus gambling casinos.
