With needing to fix my credit, a buddy of mine recommend that I get Transunion. I went ahead and paid for the service and the staff has been holding my hand through the process of getting my credit on track. Highly recommend them to everyone.

Don't use your credit card to verify your identity. It'll charge you $25.95 even if you didn't consent to that. (Sure, it's charged back, but it's still ties up funds for a while.)

Transunion timed me out I was printing out their credit report per their directions. Then they gave me a popup that made it impossible to return to ***** to get my other two free reports. It prevented the link from working and sent my browser to one of their pages with ads, then the back button would not even work. You can only get these free reports once a year, theirs sucks, and now I can't get the other two.

They advertise a free credit check all over the net. I took the opportunity to see what's going on with my credit. The "free credit check" requires you to sign up for a monthly membership. Not right... Then if that wasn't bad enough, they make you call in to cancel it (which I have yet to do successfully). Business practices like this should ruin a company. But, it won't.

Due to a mistake by an insurance agent when entering info on a new policy, we got sent a letter from the insurer saying to contact TransUnion as there may be possible identify theft. So, I dialed the number. Next thing I know, they are sending me a credit report, and a bill. I don't know how much it costs because they make you press a different button to know that. Pretty shady and tricky, and I am not dumb. They got no billing info, but I'm sure they will bill me, and if I don't pay, well then it goes to collections. They know I'll pay $10 or whatever, so ...

This company continues to take money out of my bank account every month. I call them every month to stop and they say that they cannot stop the current debit but that they will stop all future debits, only for myself to find that they debit my account the next month. Last call I made to them, I had asked to speak to a manager and the lady just hung up on me.

I was told about getting a freeze on my credit to protect against identity theft after a friend of mine had this happen to him. They make it easy to create and to lift freezes which makes it very difficult for someone to get your info. Good site. I am much more secure now. Thanks Trans Union.

Much better than Experian or Equifax. As a necessary evil, these guys aren't bad at all.

Transunion changed my address, changed my SS#. changed my birthdate, changed my NAME on my credit history, all without verification or documentation, as the IDENTITY THIEF ran around applying for credit from CC- co who were supposed to call my home to learn if I, the fraud victim, had actually applied for credit. EXPERIAN did the same thing. the CRA's use our credit histories to make money by selling our info, then try making more money by charging us for protectmyid schemes after the fact. they charge to lock your credit history.

Of the big three, this one seems to have the most errors, and the most hassles to correct errors that are the result of their own mismanagement of data. Interesting that they have yellow on WOT while the other two are green.
