Safe website about information about local companies.

trustworthy site, I use them for researching companies a lot.

The good thing about Angieslist is that the folks who have businesses listed there don't want a bad rating, but you don't necessarily get a great deal. Be diligent with your search, check other websites like yelp for alternatives and that's free.

I joined for one day. Huge mistake! This was a while ago but I doubt it has changed at all. You pay a ton for fake reviews that are not helpful. Similar info is found for free on other review sites or by asking friends, family, neighbors. Seems like a scam to me to just get money. And they must rake in the cash since I see ads on TV for it plenty. To cancel it was a huge pain. I was on hold for over an hour. Not kidding. It was ridiculous. And of course, just like many questionable companies, you cannot cancel online.

angieslist.com does not provide the level of feedback advertised. I was a customer for over a year, and when researching services I needed to use in that year I didn't find a single review for a single service provider I was researching. Neither did I find recommendations for good service providers in my area. Given the number of free sites that did provide guidance I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on an angie's list account. There may be somewhere in the US where it provides valuable information, but in the Chicago area I found none in many attempts over a year.

I HAVE GOTTEN MANY DEALS FROM ANGIE'S LIST. IT NOT ONLY SAVES YOU MONEY FROM NEIGHBORHOOD REFERRALS BUT WITH THEIR NOW GREAT REPUTATION, ANY HASSLE IS INSTANTLY RESOLVED BECAUSE NO COMPANY WANTS A BAD REVIEW.

After you sign up and give your email address, THEN you are asked for a payment plan to go further. The cost needs to be in big letters BEFORE you give email address. Not happy!

Love this site and the great deals.

This website is a total scam. They make you pay a huge fee for the same reviews you can find for free on plenty of other websites. My advice would be to skip them and stick to the free review sites.

I did not care to much about having to pay to report how lousy a company or companies are, as that was all I wanted to do, for others to know how lousy these companies are, but Angieslist does not allow a person to do this free! Why should I pay to help here site out. it should be free to leave feedback information! If I make a website it would not charge the general public! I would set it up differently! My neighbors would not charge me for a referral as Angieslist does! By the way If you want to see if a Business has had issues, visit BBB (Better Business Bureau). You can also lodge a complain with them! I had them recently help me with a company who advertised on TV (Magic Bullet), they over charged me after telling me they would charge me $36.50 for my first payment. They charged me $38.38, which when I called my credit card company they considered that fraud, as I was charged more then what they told me. This was for my first payment. There were additional problems, but the company which sells the NutriBullet still has not gave me a credit for taxes on an idem that I did not order. Anyway, this is just an example of how the BBB can help. They are the go between to try to resolve issues with business. I wish I could warn people about the other business in which I have had problems with!

I hve used this site mny times at great satisfaction. I will admit it depends on what area you live in that determines the amoun of ratings etc. There are still smaller cities/towns that have not ben saturated yet so comments are kind of thin. I think the cost is fair and I appreciate the rating from people who have actually used the companies they are commenting on.

Angie's list is the place to go to get references, referrals of a local business. You can read local users experiences they had with contractors.

GREAT SITE, EASY TO USE

It is NOT free to use the site, the reviews look fake. You have to signup and give out personal details to join the site.

Completely pointless. Yelp, Yahoo, Google ect all offer better service. Basically this is digital blackmail. Their data collection methods are nothing more than advertising to businesses through extortion.

Unsolicited spam email was sent to my email box from Angie's list. To get into details, I've never used this site, never paid, or signed up for it or been anywhere near it. Yet, I get an email telling me to hurry and join. Ha, I've seen it on tv and thought it was probably a scam as most sites that advertise heavily on tv are, but now I know I'll never use their service now.

Scam site.Contractors pay to be listed on the site. They offer people coupons or $ to post glowing reviews. These people have not even had services DONE.Want a reputable service? Do the old fashioned way ask friends relatives etc.

All these peoples complaints are groundless. Almost EVERY major site tracks your clicks. There are a lot of reviews from what I've seen. It's a business that makes money like any other business. Of course they make money, in this case through membership fees, not annoying ads. As for spam, opt out. (I wouldn't be surprised if some reviewers were disgruntled businesses that got a bad grade)
