site officiel de emule, je vous conseille de télécharger emule sur ce site et pas ailleurs. "
Good site
Good site
Site officiel de eMule, qui n'est cependant pas sûr, comparé aux alternatives P2P : Bittorrent, etc.. "
Good site
Great Site
Great Program (Open Source)
BUT !!!
Once you run the program (which is great) you will probably want to download some files using this program. This program does not and cannot (it's just impossible) to stop millions of bad files from being offered to you for download (when you run a search for ANY file).
This program should not be used by inexperienced people!!!
Every file should be tested in a virtual environment (in a "separate" part of your computer so any bad download cannot infect your computer). You can dual boot and use a different partition for testing, but this is not as safe as the virtual environment (or a "sandbox" setup).
Also, remember if you are dual booting, that any virus you download and install will have access to any other drives on the system (which is why dual booting, or changing Boot Order settings in BIOS is not a defense against a virus downloaded from eMule, or any other virus).
This can be hard to do for inexperienced users, so you may want to download ALL files to an external drive (change the folder path for incoming files in eMule settings) then connect this external drive to an old or unused computer and run your programs there first and check for virus like behaviour on the machine (reinstal Windows or other OS there regularly from scratch, to clean out any infections).
eMule is a great tool but there are literally hundreds of millions of viruses on this network (often placed there by some Media companies or their agents hoping you will download their copyrighted movie/song/program/etc). These viruses are usually inserted into "normal" sounding files (this type of virus is called a trojan) and the file may very well play/sound/work as you think it should, but what you may not know is that you have just installed a virus just by opening a file or program.
This virus may be sitting quietly and spying on you, it can be used to steal your credit card numbers and you will never know that the latest copy of (for example) Nero you have enjoyed using for a couple of years has been spying on you or, perhaps worse, the virus was created bu a hacker who gets his thrills by destrooying other people's computers (for example deleting random folders s few at a time - or ALL AT ONCE
I have been using this program for years and never noticed an infection cause by any download - but I HAVE cought quite a few (but then again I used to build computers for a living and know my way around a computer).
Final word, NEVER EVER DOWNLOAD ANY KEYGENS OR HACKS (to get free access to paid programs).
They are 90% guaranteed to have a virus included (a trojan). Think about it, if a hacker can hack a popular paid program (which often have very complex security features to stop people from getting free access to their programs, then these hackers CAN EASILY PUT A VIRUS INTO YOUR KEYGEN, HACK, OR AN "UNLOCKED" VERSION OF A PAID FOR PROGRAM (by the way these keygens and hacks sometimes really work, but why would they spend weeks or months trying to hack a program - just so they can share it with you for free ? Not likely).
Remember, even the best antivirus programs NEVER have 100% detection rates. The free ones are especially bad - often detecting only 50-80% of new viruses/worms/trojans/etc. I am talking AVG, AVAST, Microsoft Security Suite, etc.
ALL antivirus programs usually detect "old" (several days to a couple of months) viruses because they all share the old ones, but each antivirus company finds different viruses and DON"T share it straight away with other antivirus companies (for competition in tests, etc).
If you are just running an antivirus program, and have downloaded a media file like a movie or a song (no programs or keygens, etc) DON"T DOUBLE CLICK IT. You want to right click it and choose a program to open it with (you need to do this for every file untill you know it's clean). So, for example if you downloaded a song or a movie - right click the file - select Media Player or VLC Player, Or Microsoft Paint if it's a picture/photo, etc.
A program designed to open music or media files like Media Player, or VLC, or Adobe Reader, or Microsoft Paint (or other picture program), will usually try to open the file as a song or a movie or a picture, etc and if the file is not a song or video then you may get no sound or no video which usually means the file is corrupted or infected and should be immediately deleted.
If you just double click a file Windows Explorer may detect that despite the MP3 extension, it is a program, and will try to open it as a program (not using the default program for MP3 etc) - that's when your virus gets in.
Anyway, I have NOT heard of a person who uses eMule regularly, and is not a Power User, who didn't get infected at some time, and I have fixed many a computer as a result, and usually the only solution by then is a complete Windows reinstallation (but these people might have OTHER files (on other drives) they have downloaded, but never got around to playing them yet - so it could just be a matter of time for them. "
