Is yankodesign.com Safe?

Yanko Design is a blog with many concepts and a few real-life products. It's motto "Form beyond function" is quite accurate, as many of the concepts featured are flawed. Still, it's a great blog, and it's nice to see theses fresh ideas. People who hate on this site just because the products aren't real are idiots.

Many of the 'ideas' presented here are not workable - the object is clearly to make something that looks impressive, whether it works or not is secondary. Problems with designs are sometimes obvious (feet on 'oink stool' are too small, it will tip over) and sometimes less obvious - for instance, due to fundamental limitations in the laws of physics, the window solar plug is not at all practical. The 'corky frames' won't work with actual lenses that would provide vision correction - i.e. you would not be able to get real lenses made, using a reasonably-priced manufacturing process, which could be cut to follow that contour (who needs to see when you can look so cool?) It seems pretty clear that there is no requirement for an 'idea' to be practical, and no requirement for claims in the text to be honest and represent the reality of the design. It's artists having fun ideas without worrying about the constraints of physics and engineering. So, bear this in mind when reading the site. Also, note that the site slogan is "Form Beyond Function", which may be just a clever way of saying "April Fool! - All Year!".
