This site is fake. The tree Octopus is a false animal, they're only tryna get clicks to become famous.

They are scamming people into believing this when it is not a trusted website. First of all it ends with .net that means it’s not valid and second half of those pics are stuffed animals. Please don’t believe any website that ends with .net.

This is a safe website and is deliberately a spoof. It's a harmless and very useful way of teaching young children not to believe everything they read on the internet. I think some people have given it a 'low' rating as they do not understand that it is very deliberately showing 'fake' information in a professional and harmless way. It serves as a fun tool for explaining what fake websites look like. I have used it a number of times to illustrate this. Don't forget to tell the kids that there is no such thing as a tree octopus after the learning experience.

First off, the site itself is completely safe. However, people SHOULD be informed that the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus, in fact, does not exist. It's a fun little site, though.

Not a scam. This is simply a parody site.

Oh come on, are you going to mark the Onion as spam too?

The info on this site has been proven to be incorrect. It was a research experiment to test how students would believe information they found on the internet. Once the test was concluded, the students were told that the site was a hoax.

Raises much-needed awareness of the tree octopus, Octopus paxarbolis, and the endangerment of this tragically obscure yet ecologically vital species. The Pacific Northwest tree octopus deserves the same degree of environmentalist respect that we grant to many other species threatened by human activity.

This is an obviously fake site. It's quite fun for a few laughs though.

Come on... if you can't figure out this is a spoof, you shouldn't be using a computer.

Yeah, it's not even credible - tree octopi!? And "greenpeas.org"? That isn't right - we discussed this on my class at school (yesterday)!
