Безопасен ли wikia.com?

A bastard (namely, for PROFIT) child of Jimbo, Angela and whoever else of the old Wikimedia guys. Nowadays the layout douses any content in ads. Many of original (of ∼2005–10) communities emigrated. Buys wiki sites, extinguishes original domains, then drive content creators away, selling ads from their product.

I am on Wikia a lot. Overall, it's a good site - create your own community based on the things you love, be it a game or a movie franchise. However, you must take note of the advertisements - they can be annoying.  You can also collaboratively edit with others on a wiki - collaborative editing can sometimes bring vandalism.

Wikia has its extremely high Google ranking thanks to wikipedia. If you have an official wiki for some topic, and some poor fool makes a wiki on the same topic on Wikia, the latter tends to outrank the former in Google ranking even if there's nothing there. God help you if you ever try to move your wiki off Wikia - they'll swoop in and censor any talk of your decision, and you'll be fighting the google ranking of your own abandoned wiki forever. For that reason, I've given this site a low ranking, so that I'll be reminded to look elsewhere for a better wiki first.
