These people who seem incapable of reading standard installation instructions and/or privacy policies are damaging reputations, not only of particular websites, but that of WOT itself and sponsors such as CNET. Of course, some of the responsibility must fall to those who do bundle other software with the main product that people select to download. They need to realize that the average user, even after numerous years, still does not understand computers, software, browsers, web sites, etc. and never will because they are only interested in the very easiest paths with little effort required from them. This type of user is afraid of choosing "Custom Installation - for advanced users only" because they know they are far from being an advanced user. Truth is, if they would slow down and read each page of the installation process, they would be able to prevent these additional programs (which for the most part are certainly NOT spyware! Please, limit the drama/hysteria and stick to facts.) from installing very easily - I do it all the time and I'm a cranky, gray-haired, granny! Someone in the business needs to come up with a solution for this problem. I value a service such as WOT, but it's quickly becoming useless for me and I now do whatever I can to avoid CNET - BUT not because WOT or CNET has done anything wrong except allow 'puter toddlers to rate software and web sites.

Just read their terrible privacy policy to see what they are all about. I would advise never finding out how bad their installs are in the first place. Be very careful with free software. There is no free lunch and often times free comes at too high of a cost.

Site is Microsoft recommended for downloading useful tools. The negative listing in hpHosts is un-verified and likely outdated. Further testing with high quality test tools/web sites yields ZERO confirmation of any malicious or suspicious activity. McAfee Site Advisor, Google, Wepawet, vURL Online and others give it a clean bill of health. Quit believing everything you see on the internet and spreading false paranoia - there are plenty of real threats to be worried about. Get your own facts before propagating false information. The installer for the software recommended by Microsoft Support did indeed try to bundle a lot of crap-ware but everybody does that these days. Just learn to say NO.

JWebOfTrust, There are a number of gaming sites that install this way. Just READ the windows that pop up during the installation. You can easily DECLINE all of the extras. IObit has a useful Uninstaller program, that'll remove this software quickly and neatly, and it's 100% free. ***** I use this one myself. I also use Iobit's other software., and love it

Gary ***** After opening update (and agreeing to it ) I started getting enough programs to kill it safely. We need to contact the sits that use them.
