Getting tired of seeing this stuff on clients computers. I wish the people that write this malware would go out and get real jobs.

Browser hijacker and tracking toolbar software.

Spigot is useless. Their toolbars are just malware. I have installed them once, and they scattered malware all over my drive. When I plugged in a USB, the malware would spread on and the other computer would get infected. When malicious toolbar is installed, these symptoms happen: Ads suddenly pop up, even if you do not have the internet running The computer lags to the point that you have to shut it down My friends get weird emails to install Spigot toolbar (supposedly sent by me) The data stream is consistantly on, and it sends user info to one of their servers.

This company creates adware that injects ads in the web browser, and that is often installed through very unethical means.

Deceptively installs software on your computer if you're not careful. Often bundled with other software. Difficult to remove. Classified as adware/ potentially unwanted program.

Installs difficult to remove hijacking software to your browsers in a devious and deceptive way (e.g. "slicksavings" and "shopping assistant"). Changes settings on your browsers that are difficult to reverse (e.g. Yahoo search engine). Pretends that they have been installed with your explicit and properly informed consent.

Its malware even a home made anti vrisu will detect it

Purveyors of malware that hijacks your browser searches. I unwittingly downloaded some crapware called (ironically) "Search Protection", and it does exactly the opposite of what the name implies. Don't install anything from these scum.

Very nice website and very professional support. I contacted support for removing a toolbar because i don't know computers. Very good !!

It doesn't bother me as I did contact them and they told me how to uninstall. No malware or viruses were detected by my antivirus.

Installiert sich als Drive-By Download. Aufwendig wieder zu entfernen. Scheint von Yahoo unterstützt zu werden. Zumindestens werden Suchanfragen auf Yahoo umgeleitet zu werden.

Installed in bundle with other application. I emailed the support of this company and they guided me to remove without any problems. It didn't mess up my computor so I'm happy.

Had a program installed and check the additional offers by Spigot. If you pay attention and you are interested in the add-ons I don't see the harm. No issues for me. I managed to remove the apps as per the indications found on their website.

Was suspicious at first the programs offered by this company, but after I contacted the support team, they guided me in using properly and confirmed me that there is no malware to it. Fair enough!

It installed a toolbar when I downloaded an application but they have clear information in FAQ and I got rid of the toolbar. I think it is fair and correct.

Spigot is a bastard company, plain and simple. The fact that they're allowed to do what they do, and without legal ramification, is really unfortunate. Yahoo should pursue legal action for defamation as, since Yahoo is the mask they use to collect your data, many of us will no longer allow Yahoo to interact with our computers on any level. Unscrupulous and unfortunate.

Insidious. It's very easy to click the wrong button and allow installation if you're not paying VERY close attention. A child would be even more likely to unintentionally install this. The Searchme product offered by Spigot is nothing less than a browser hijack that adds an extension to most of your browsers (Safari, Firefox, and Chrome on OS X 10.7 confirmed). It purports to change your default search engine to Yahoo, but what it really does is send your searches through their servers first, collecting whatever information you send through. Sneaky and underhanded.
