Is astalavista.com Safe?

I think every site in the world should be the same way of it. I'm against pseudo-security control, like facebook (that means, instead, User Tracking. By the CIA for the best dictation purposes only!!). Anyone would learn easily to auto-secure by itself, instead of anti-virus illusory defenses. PS: Please be Full Careful with downloads on this site! ;-)

Il est devenu impossible de créer un compte parce qu'il y a toujours quelque chose qui cloche mais c'est mal précisé, interdit d'utiliser un moteur de recherche mais on ne sait pas pourquoi, impossible d'écrire aux administrateurs, impossible de faire quoi que ce soit... Comme je préférais ce site tel qu'il était avant, c.à.d gratuit, simple et accessible à tous, on ne se faisait pas emm... avec des inscriptions obligatoires, du flash et du javascript qui rendent la navigation invivable partout !

Those who don't "slum around" pirate mines for ethical reasons won't like Astalavista: it's not intended for you. This is an anarchistic site--but IMHO as far as 'anarchistic site standards' go, it's relatively non-malicious. I have used it for years without it eating my box once. This isn't a site that aims to screw with you. However SOME SITES IT LINKS TO have been known to plant ad trojans. Be careful of those. These sorts of sites do provide valuable data to the people who code anti-malware engines and lists--and anyone else who has to watch what the blackhats are doing to help in making effective security solutions. Sysadmin types find it useful for the info on Linux and Windows server security, and how it becomes exploited.
