Panda Security, the world's leading provider of cloud-based security solutions, and WOT Services Ltd., the developer of the world's leading community-based website rating service Web of Trust (WOT), are pleased to announce a partnership today to deliver a safer Web search experience through their new co-branded version of WOT.

The Panda-WOT partnership gives WOT's 5 million members added protection with up-to-the-minute information on malware distributors, phishing threats and dangerous domains detected by Panda Labs. You'll know it's from Panda when you see the Panda avatar as a trusted source on a WOT scorecard. WOT users will also receive special offers for extended trials of Panda anti-virus products periodically. Panda customers can complement their virus protection with WOT's safe browser tool from the Panda-WOT download site. By joining forces, both companies hope to attract new users and make searching, shopping, and browsing on the Internet a safer experience.
“As we did with Collective Intelligence, we trust in the power of the community to improve the safety of the user, that’s why we believe WOT is the best tool to help get safe surfing through the Internet”, said Panda Security’s CEO Juan Santana.
"We are excited to have Panda, a respected security company, as a partner in our goal to make the Internet a safer place for everyone," said Against Intuition's CEO Esa Suurio. "WOT prides itself in providing frontline protection in the battle against online threats, and with this strong collaboration between Panda Security and Web of Trust we have strengthened both our products and given our users a definite advantage against cybercrime."
WOT users can try Panda Internet Security 2010 free for one month. Learn more about this offer on Panda Security for WOT members.

Panda and liability when rating
Thu 30 Jul 2009 11:44:25 AM UTC — mrgamesI am very pleased about the partnership with Panda, an excellent company! I would like to remark at this time that everyone should be EXTREMELY CAREFUL when rating websites after the recent Twitter libel decision. You could be held liable for anything improper or inaccurate in you ratings!
Re: Liability
Thu 30 Jul 2009 12:30:00 PM UTC — SamiSomeone was sued over a tweet in the US, but I don't think there has been a decision on that. It's perfectly safe to rate sites and post comments about your own experiences, but you should always be careful to have your facts straight when posting comments. For example, you probably shouldn't go around saying that your landlord thinks moldy apartments are great unless they really do. :)
WOT
Thu 30 Jul 2009 12:33:50 PM UTC — ReprotectedWill WOT be the same or will it change to be something like SiteAdvisor from now on?
Just MyWOT and SpywareBlaster, I guess... Found a malicious or fraudulent website? Rate it at WOT ASAP! Found a game hacker? Report it to the game's anti-cheat team! Infected with a virus? Delete it with an antivirus =P
Re: WOT
Thu 30 Jul 2009 12:55:48 PM UTC — SamiWOT will remain the same. Partnering with other companies doesn't mean that there will be chances to the concept.

http://www.prweb.com/releases/Panda/WOT/prweb25815...
I feel this is a good move forward for Web of Trust not only in the business sense, but for the fact that having the resources of a respected global security company as Panda, WOT Members will benefit greatly in terms of protection from malicious websites.
Good luck with the Partnership!

Mon 03 Aug 2009 11:34:49 AM UTC — vili-alI think collaboration will give a safer way to surf the internet and more secure.
It is like a double checked method or more trusted information on what we open.
Hope to have more collaborations like this.
Congratulations.
