Hola la communidad hispanohablante! Hello Spanish speakers in the community!
Mucho gusto conocer a vosotros!
Hi all! I am Anna-Leena, the new Community Liaison Officer of WOT for the Spanish-speaking world. I´m a Finn living in Spain at the moment and in the past I have been living in Mexico. My educational background is in marketing which also brought me to WOT. As we all, I get extremely annoyed by all the scum you may get from Internet so therefore I am more than happy to work for something that saves me and others from the trouble: Web of Trust! Personally I find WOT really helpful in my use of Internet. In fact, having been using WOT for a while now, using Internet without the little red, yellow and green circles guiding me is quite challenging… So hopefully together we can make WOT even bigger than it already is all around the world! Nice to meet you all!

Two resources to help prevent and remove malware from your site
Fri 29 Jan 2010 08:49:21 AM UTC — Deborah S.Every website is a target for malware attacks. If you follow the news you will know that everything from mom n' pop sites, educational institutions, government sites, Fortune 500 companies, even famous search engines fall victim to drive-by downloads, social engineering attacks and a myriad of badware.
The good news is that you can prevent, detect and recover from a malware attack on your site. Two friends of WOT are a good place to start.
StopTheHacker offers services that help you prevent, detect and recover from a website intrusion. Their specialty is detecting code injections; a new tactic cybercriminals use to introduce malicious code in compromised websites.
StopTheHacker is a collaboration fostered through the Bourns College of Engineering at the University of California, Riverside. They are a recipient of the National Science Foundation award for technological novelty and impact.
Visit StopTheHacker
StopBadware began as an anti-malware project with The Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. They just recently became a standalone non-profit organization.
Website owners can search for reports on their site using the Badware Website Clearinghouse. And with the help of the BadwareBusters community, you can get advice on cleaning and securing your site.
Visit StopBadware
Search for a website on the Badware Website Clearinghouse
Have a question? Ask the BadwareBusters.org online community
Both of these fine organizations are friends and supporters of WOT.

Have you updated your browser lately?
Tue 26 Jan 2010 02:20:55 PM UTC — Deborah S.
Our developers work hard to stay ahead of browser updates so that you will never have to surf without WOT. But when was the last time you updated your browser?
Old and outdated browsers have a greater risk for Internet threats and don't follow new web development standards. Outdated browsers such as Internet Explorer 6 (released in 2001) don't follow current web standards which affects the quality of websites rendering; have security issues; are full of bugs; and are incompatible with much of the new technology on the Internet.
Find your browser version
- Open your browser
- Click on Help and then scroll down to About (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)
- The window that opens will show you which browser version you are using. If your version is older, it’s time to make a change.
Browser choices that support add-ons like WOT:
Firefox is a longtime favorite for fans of add-ons and themes. Download Firefox 3.6
Google's new Chrome browser runs webpages and extensions with lightning speed. Download Google Chrome 4
This version of Internet Explorer is faster and safer than its predecessors. Download Internet Explorer 8
What's your favorite browser?

CEO Bulletin #2
Mon 25 Jan 2010 12:01:18 PM UTC — Vesa PTime flies and January is almost over. It has been another excellent month for WOT and the future looks very good. A few days ago, we had our all time high in daily downloads. The new record is now 23 896, mainly due to the presence on Firefox featured add-on's first page. Chrome add-on is doing pretty well too and we are eagerly waiting for the release of the so called stable version sometime in the near future. This should further boost our download and registration numbers.
We have also closed a few more partnership deals with regard to our CTN service. Our strategy is, in brief, that we create a solid go-to-market model in Finland and then copy the approach and scale up in other countries. An extremely important part of our CTN strategy is the involvement of the community. I hinted about this in the previous bulletin and here's the plan in a nutshell: we want to involve the WOT community in promoting CTN. We will introduce the concrete plan shortly but it will e.g. include rewards in terms of sales commissions, free CTN certificates and possibly also other products and services from WOT partners. We would love to test this before finalizing the details so the 10 first volunteers who send me (vesa@mywot.com) an e-mail about this are selected to be part of the pilot. And if you happen to be #11, don't worry, there will be some other new things to be tested soon :)
Cheers,
Vesa P

WOT's millionth registered user!
Fri 15 Jan 2010 09:02:34 PM UTC — Deborah S.Today WOT has reached another milestone in the phenomenal growth of our rating community. We welcome our millionth registered user, teakayfortoowon to the WOT community.
WOT has had over 8 million downloads of the add-on, and this year we have set a big goal - to reach 20 million downloads. We appreciate teakayfortoowon and the 999,999 users who registered before him and have worked hard rating 25.6 million websites.
By registering, you become part of the larger WOT community and have access to our full range of features. We encourage all WOT users to register so you can:
- Create a user profile
- Write comments on the WOT scorecard
- Participate in the forum and blog
Please help us achieve our goal this year by telling a few friends every month about WOT. Maybe even help them download it and get it set up on their computer. You would be helping them to surf, shop and search safer on the Internet and you would be helping WOT grow and the ratings become more reliable for everyone. Thanks!

CEO Bulletin
Tue 05 Jan 2010 02:54:19 PM UTC — Vesa PHello World,
first of all, Happy New Year to all of you in the WOT community. My name is Vesa Perälä and I started as the CEO of WOT Services Ltd. in November 2009. This is my first WOT blog post but definitely not the last - I plan to share the CEO Bulletin with all of you at least once a month. I hope you will enjoy it.
November and December were very busy and good months for WOT. We reached 8 million users on the second last day of the year, launched WOT for Google Chrome, introduced WOT Community Trust Network service, got back on Mozilla's featured add-on list, signed co-operation agreements with a few companies (more about those later on), finalized our strategy for 2010 just to name a few examples. We are very much looking forward to making everything even better and bigger than they are at the moment. Thank you for your contributions so far and please keep up the excellent work!
A few words about WOT in year 2010. WOT community is and remains our top priority. We have ambitious plans to grow the user numbers as this improves our service. We will also shortly introduce some changes on the mywot.com pages to serve different types of WOT users better than currently. Naturally we wish to see the general activity level increase as well and there will be new ways of being an active WOT member.
WOT is now available for IE, Firefox and Chrome. We will not stop here so please monitor this space for further announcements about new WOT products and services. We are also currently recruiting browser extension developers to make this and much more happen so if you are one or know any somewhere on this planet, please drop us a line. Thanks.
cheers,
Vesa P
