Ist avs4you.com sicher?

Like many others I had a lifetime license and the company changed their policy since my purchase to state that the license is only valid on the very original computer you install the software on. Their "Free" offering is a ploy to trick you into buying the commercial version.

After downloading and installing this program I noticed a large drop in my system resources, RAM decreased by 225 without opening the application and CPU usage was up 37% while not running this program. My system has 1.5 Gib RAM and I have 1.7 Pentium M running XP Pro MCE 2002 with 2005 Rollup. With this in mind, it seems as if the Start-Up processes for this application/program are sending 3rd party cookies to an undetermined recipient. I do NOT suggest using this program. The plus side is that is was easy to uninstall, and uninstalled all registry and temp folder's (for me anyway). But I do not trust this program and would not recommend it for anyone's use. It also froze my PC twice and hung on shutdown which forced me to "Force Shutdown" which is proven not good for your HDD.

There are a lot of people getting the misconception that AVS is saying that everything is free. Actually it doesn't say all of them are free. There are a few free software choices from AVS like for example the media player, firewall and whatever else. But when you are at the avs4you.com website and there is a list of all their software, under each program there is a link that says "features overview". Click on that and it will say plain as day whether it's free or not. I have been using AVS software for quite awhile now and it's been very good. I actually prefer it over most others. They let you try the others for free, but for example like the video converter will let you use it all you want, but it puts a watermark on the video that you convert so basically you can play around with it and see if you like it and use it and then if you do then you can purchase it and put the product key in and it will take the watermark off for future conversions. Basically everyone giving AVS a bad rating needs to have their comments and ratings taken off, and they need to start reading!
