Ist bluekai.com sicher?

Bluekai is an advertiser now owned by Oracle. Oracle is, quite frankly, one of the most evil companies ever. They make their employees waive their right to sue them, but have no problem suing their employees. Shudder to think what evil Oracle will bring to an advertiser.

The Bluekai website itself has a bunch of trackers just like many other websites on the Internet. The company is a different story. Bluekai (now owned by Oracle) and its ~30 affiliate companies are data aggregator companies that collect user data and trade it on their data market place. In general data aggregator companies collect information about users, both from online and offline sources. Information can be extensive including credit interest score, OTC medications, interest in religion etc. Bluekai allows users to look at some of the collected information through Bluekai registry service. However, their claim that the information is anonymous can be misleading as these companies do collect and link personally identifiable information such as full names, DOB, full postal addresses, phone numbers and email addresses to other user information. As I have commented, Bluekai is neither good nor bad. Companies pay them for their tracking information. What they do with that tracking information may be good or bad. How I avoid? You can run DoNotTrackMe which is an add-on in Firefox. You can also run NoScript, and disallow Blukai from running any scripts. So you can pretty much shut it out. It's up to you. No need to trash the company with whining comments, as what they do is likely all legal. Just take control of your browser and tune it out if you don't want it. If you don't think Bluekai should be allowed to exist, write a letter to your congressional representative stating your position.

It is a good site in the sense that, if navigated carefully, can enable other sites such as WSJ.com. It is suspicious in that it can host links, accidentally or maliciously, embedded by others. Swimming in the ocean is inherently dangerous, but being careful mitigates the danger; it is unnecessary for everyone in California to move to Nebraska, and truly careless people can find a way to drown even in Nebraska.

This website in and of itself is not dangerous. Blue Kai is a company that collects information about all of us on the internet. There website doesn't appear to have any tracking itself at least based on DNT, on my most recent visit. It has an area for OPT out, but does that really work? I'm not sure. Is collecting info about all of the internet unethical, maybe, but this site, somewhat ironically, does not track. Just in case you are going there to opt out or see what data they may have track on you.

Bluekai is neither good nor bad. It hooks itself to sites at the request of the sites for either good or bad. Bluekai does not inject any malware into your computer, but yes, it is involved in tracking, collecting and reporting data. If you don't want Bluekai to run on sites you visit, you can make adjustments to your browser to do this.
