It integrates with other Amazon Web Services to give developers and businesses an easy way to distribute content to end users with low latency, high data transfer speeds, and no commitments.

This is a CDN. It provides content to areas which might otherwise struggle with the bandwidth. Technically you don't need them, but you might suffer with a badly performing web page that uses it's service. The dilemma with CDNs is wether you trust it not to include spam with it's own agenda You can't block everything on the internet. These are the bad guys you let through.
