DivX is a good movie player for me. The site is OK for children as far as I know. They recently upgraded my player and asked me to sign up for ZipCloud storage. I did not sign up. On 2 subsequent restarts of my iMac, the same pop-up for ZipCloud appeared. I found a running process for ZipCloud by using Activity Monitor and deleted all parts of a ZipCloud program with Clean App.

The product works very well as a video codec, no doubt about that. There is a couple of problems however. For one thing whenever it installed Malwarebytes found a few PUP's after the install. Not only that but the program runs an extra file in the background called DivXupdate.exe , which stays on the computer no matter what. In order to resolve the issue, you have to delete the folder with the executable file in it and to remove the process within the Task Manager. Overall awesome program, but it does need the fixes mentioned above.

This is the home of the DivX player, web plug-in, codecs, and all that other good stuff. The site is safe to visit and browse. If you do decide to install the program, be sure to carefully read the installer, or you can inadvertently get stuck with some bloat-ware, and some browser jackers.

installed malware in several folders, even in Windows Temporary Internet folder which Microsoft denies access to. they make their money being a vector for malware or PUPs, may their noses fall off kind regards

Divx is just bloatware now that it is a pain to remove from your computer. Its really nothing more than a rebranded, for profit version of Xvid.

ps checked divx plus installation both reg entries and main install location, didn't find any other add or suspicious entries so install looks clean to me.
