CNET promises that their downloads are spyware and adware free but this is all too frequently proven false.Like Full Video Converter Free, which is pure adware and doesn't convert videos at all.Or others like TechTracker which contain open candy.Either they don't really screen their downloads or they don't care. The end result is a completely untrustworthy site.

Cnet online is one of the best sites I have found for downloads and critical PC information. I have never had any spyware or Mal-ware downloaded from this site and have grown to trust their information and programs.

Kaspersky has caught legal, but malicious content on files downloaded, spy-ware, browser hijackers, like ASK.COM tool bars loaded even when you uncheck the tool bar box during install. Peerblock program recognizes cnet as a spyware host.

For an organisation this size it's hard to believe they can offer downloads which are clearly full of viruses and spyware, lesser known sites are better than this like *****

I use this website a lot when I am looking for something particular. I have heard of viruses being in some of the downloads, but luckily never encountered one myself. It's a great website but do to some of the comments about viruses, then I say use at your own risk. I am sure they strive to make sure all their downloads and links are clean, but sometimes things happen. I wouldn't blame this website IF something happened just because I am sure they don't mean for it to. Anytime you download things from any website you take that chance. Sometimes viruses are attached to the links themselves and not the actual downloaded content, so it really isn't anyone's fault besides the person attaching the virus to the link or content. Anyway I have used this website for over 12 years now and I love it.
