Facebook has impacted the web in huge ways and is a great tool. That being said the content on Facebook is only as trustworthy as the people who make it. Anyone can create an app and not everyone has noble intentions. Use the same discretion as you use elsewhere online here and you will have a good experience.

if you are using FB you should know that they are using everything what YOU give THEM. if an application wants to take some data of you... why do YOU say yes? why do YOU say... oh... FB... here are my personal informations! THINK of it. don't tell them everything. why do YOU tell them where you live, phone number, address... if YOU develope awareness for personal responsibility... they wount get everything. delete not used apps; hide/delet to personal information; create a spam-mail-account or filter...

I've bought credits to play FB on a recent game whose success is growing (The Smurfs & Co: Really nice - although I have only four friends, so it is normal for me to "prospect" - but they should to diversify out of this bounded "social network") on FB and when I was looking for partners, I was stuck without any explanation or excuse or opportunity to explain to improve their blocking policy under software control. I have less than 200 "friends" on my page and I'm pretty selective, so it is relatively common to find pages approaching 5000 "friends". ... No reference or sexual harassing behavior ... and yet, I got blocked! Go figure! ... and don't even dream about any apologizing if they make a mistake and destroy in one second what you patiently created during a too long time! They're playing with human relationships but they just let the cuts managed by softwares. Just disgusting! What is useful in a "social network" if you can't seek to extend your contacts beyond their usual circle? Better than to keep your address book for yourself. At least you won't expose your contacts to privacy abuse of this king of site. ... And if you want to expand your contacts, just go then through these kings of indiscretion: Search engines and/or directories. Conclusion: Algorithms in morality denies human complexity: It simply don't work! Facebook is a true dictatorship type "big Brother", a one-way moralizing spyware that doesn't respect privacy and blindly trust in analysis software (absolute reliability is impossible!) for blocking improperly and without real consultation very honest and of good will clients who don't have any desire for cheat or fraud. This site relies on the machine or software but not (at all) to humans. ... Huge mistake! ... Or the system must be perfect... which is obviously a nonsense as utopic as imagining a perfect human being! An injured person makes noise for ten ... if not for one hundred or more! Customers are human beings, not machines without emotion! They're accepting some extent (targeting but not harassment), commercial exploitation of their data and even a reasonable and controlled level of intrusion ... But they will never forget a repressive behavior (especially if it's unjust, arbitrary, without consultation or explanation) ... and won't forgive the abuse even with patch-change of policy privacy! For sure that at the onset of an actor offering a more friendly concept, the site will reach its peak of popularity and customers before collapsing... The client finally aware of the intrusiveness of this site will run away ... definitly! Don't need to be a soothsayer to predict that FaceBook stock will also collapse: Probably within the next 5 years. So it's far better to have your own site or control as much as possible your own information and simply leave an erasable (verify!) link on a social-networking (Big-Brothering) site ... rather than give or assign naively all rights to your information (contacts, photos, videos, texts, opinions, games behavior, logins, preferences registrations, mouse movements, social behaviors, clicked links, geolocation, introduced addresses, various statistics ...) to these sites as they claim in their conditions and impose us a binary choice (yes or no) leading to the acceptance that all of us blindly sign as illiterately posing their mark on a plebiscitary vote for legitimation of a dictatorship. Remember: Even when you properly manage your privacy on FB, you will soon or late meet problems! A quoi sert un "réseau social" si on ne peut pas chercher à étendre ses contacts au delà de son cercle habituel? Autant conserver son carnet d'adresse pour soi. Au moins, on ne risque pas d'exposer ses contacts aux abus de vie privée de ce type de site. ... Et si l'on veut étendre ses contacts, il suffit alors de passer par ces rois de l'indiscrétion : Les moteurs de recherche et/ou les annuaires. Conclusion : La morale sous algorithmes nie la complexité humaine : Ca ne peut pas marcher! Facebook est une véritable dictature de type "big Brother", un spyware moralisateur à sens unique qui n'a aucun respect pour la vie privée et se fie aveuglément à l'analyse logicielle (fiabilité absolue impossible!) pour bloquer abusivement et sans concertation réelle même des gens honnêtes et de bonne volonté qui n'ont aucun désir de tricher ni de frauder. Ce site se fie à la machine ou au logiciel mais pas (du tout!) à l'être humain. ... Erreur magistrale! ... Ou alors le système doit être parfait, ce qui est évidemment aussi UTOPIQUE que d'imaginer un être humain parfait! Une personne lésée fait du bruit pour dix... quand ce n'est pas pour cent ou plus! Les clients sont des êtres humains, pas des machines sans émotions! ils sont prêt à accepter dans une certaine mesure (ciblage mais pas harcèlement) l'exploitation commerciale de leur données et même un niveau raisonnable et contrôlé d'intrusion... Mais ils n'oublieront jamais un comportement répressif (surtout s'il est injuste, arbitraire, sans concertation, explication ou appel)...et ne pardonneront pas les abus même en cas de modification-patch de la politique de vie privée! Il est quasi-certain que dès l'apparition d'un acteur proposant une formule plus respectueuse, le site aura atteint son pic de popularité puis les clients, enfin conscients de l'intrusivité de ce site, vont le fuir ... Il ne faut pas être devin pour prévoir qu'alors, l'action FaceBook s'effondrera : Probablement d'ici 5 ans. Il donc est de loin préférable d'avoir votre propre site ou le contrôle le plus large possible de vos informations et d'y laisser un simple lien effaçable à guise (vérifiez!) sur un site de réseautage social... plutôt que de donner ou céder tous les droits sur vos infos (contacts, photos, vidéos, textes, opinions, comportement de jeux, logins, enregistrement des préférences, mouvements de souris, comportements sociaux, liens cliqués, géolocalisation, adresses introduites, statistiques diverses...) à ces sites comme ils le réclament dans leurs conditions et nous imposent un choix binaire (oui ou non) menant vers l'acceptation que tous, nous signons aveuglément comme des analphabètes posant leur empreinte sur un vote plébiscitaire destiné à asseoir la légitimité d'une dictature. N'oubliez pas : Même lorsque vous gérez correctement votre vie privée sur FB, vous serez tôt ou tard confronté à des problèmes! PS : Trop de personnes trop naïves ici: Noter SUPER ROUGE pour la vie privée et Orange pour le reste!

Bueno para las redes sociales, aunque no es único sitio orientado a las redes sociales. Si se establece la configuración de privacidad de forma adecuada y utilizar sabiamente facebook que no deberías tener problemas de seguridad. Los padres tenga en cuenta que algunos grupos en Facebook probablemente no son apropiados para sus hijos. Se puede llevar mucho tiempo también, pero en general es un buen sitio!Write your comment

Some say it's dangerous. They're right. Made to collect private informations, and is mainly used to generate strongly doubtful relationships. If you know what a spyware is, then study this site for a while, and you'll see that it's mainly a global and/or massive threat destinate to provide its funders with amounts of money and influence on people's behavior. Facebook, constant spying and hoards of advertisements is too personal. The concept of a social Internet is good, but for a company to monitor every thing you do over the internet for max profit who on the other hand give us no insight what they are doing is unethical, rude and disrespectful. Facebook is a good idea, operated by people who have no sense of human ethics with the ideology of everything even your privacy is for sell.
