Many people know about the annoying pop-up ads served by this site, but not many of then know that, for Mac users, one of the most frequently rotated ads here is for rogue antivirus MacKeeper. And if you don't have a dedicated ad blocker or plugin click-to-play functionality to prevent Adobe Flash from loading automatically, you could be in danger of infection even if you try to close the pop-up by clicking the red "X" button. Very useful however 11 different third-parties getting your information via web bugs and the like? That's a little much for any service/site let alone a reference site of this caliber and the overall design is very, well... unprofessional for Merriam-Webster.
